I have been soooo busy I havent been around but I wanted to tell you of a ut oh moment I had----This goes back to putting yourself first--which we know is hard to do---well most of you know that when I first came (little background here) I told you of my husband getting kicked out blah blah--then in October he moved back to KC to be by family----I went to go see him and take the kids first of December---all went ok---well then the first of January he emails me telling me that he found another woman and MOVED in with her (after 2 weeks mind ya)--I was very hurt but not surprised--and sais well that was our deal breaker and we are done!  And we are!  I have started going out among friends, which he wouldnt let me do and Im casually seeing someone--- Well--due to the fact that I have a 6 yr old, and 2 1/2 yr old twins, living with my parents--you can only imagine how hectic things get!  Especially since i work full time, go to school full time (will be done with RN in August!!!)you can see how taking care of myself or eating like I should--rarely happens!!! Well I had my 2nd fill the 6th--and guess what? I gained 3 pounds since my November fill!  I was crying--I felt I had failed--had a long talk with the RN---because I knew what I did and it was so simple to correct--but I had to find a way to correct it---to fiqure out how to do it----the reason why I gained weight-----I simply drank with my meal  a BIG NO NO And since correcting that I have lost the 3 pounds and now down 2 more in a week all because of something so simple but soooo hard to do!!!  I always drink while I eat----something spicy---wa**** down LOL  Well no more!  So this was my UT OH moment that I wanted to share especiallywith people wanting info or just starting down the lap band road..old habits are hard to break but Im goign to break them to be successful! Im only down prob 30 pounds but thats 30 pounds I wouldnt have kept off with the lapband!!! Now my other question----is it the protein I need to mimimize hair loss or is it something else?  My hair is just coming out a little but my hair is so fine anyways but I want to make doubly sure---so could someone help me out with this? Congrats to everyone that has joined the losers bench!!! And HELLO to everyone else lurking or posting----We're glad to have ya!!! HUG and love to all Amber

Amber read your nutrition books , everyone needs protein, it is the fuel for the body. yes it will help minimize the hair loss but your body has to have protein. no ifs, or buts about it. you want to keep the carbs down and protein up. drink lots of water , not with your meal and you should lose weight .

I'm a bander and I drink lots of protein shakes and take a mulit-vitamin twice a day.   I have not had any problems with hair loss, in fact, at my last hair cut, my stylist commented that she thinks my hair is even thicker than before.  Now, I have a co-worker that had the band too and she didn't get her protein in.  When she had her last hair cut, it was the first time EVER her stylist didn't have to thin her hair.  She said she noticed her hair was coming out.  She has started getting in her protein and her hair loss is slowing down.   So, yes, protein helps with the hair.  Also makes your nails stronger...I have never had to cut mine before but I do now.   Get that protein in.  Even if you have to pay a little more for your protein so that you drink it, it is worth it.  I know some of the cheaper protein is gritty and sandy.  I pay more for mine but I drink it instead of letting it sit in the cabinet and go to waste.   Jennifer
