Tammy V, Amanda G, anyone who had surgery in the past few weeks... check in
RNY on 01/06/15
I think its a great idea to keep posting between the several of us that had surgery right close to each other as we will be going through a lot of the same issues, physically and emotionally and can help each other out also.. My main problem is some foods just plain don't taste right to me anymore.. and its hard to get all my liquids in every day, have to stay on top of it and I don't always make it.. I thought i was going to be lucky with the fluid pills but as soon as I started eating again my body puffed right back up, and the doc said I have to take it for awhile, we will see in a few months..
I am feeling good though, relatively easy time i think, not been sick once, eggs, yogurt and potato are my favorites.. but I can't wait to have tuna and turkey next week :)
I will weigh again on Monday, but as of this week, I was down 34 before surgery, and 16.5 since surgery and am starting to really tell in my clothes now, i should at 50 lbs.. its funny how you cant tell and then its like it all went at once :) Hope you all took before pics and measured.. :) My one month appointment is on the 25th which will be a few days early, but I can't wait ...
CHECK IN GALS>> it will be fun to keep in touch.
Blessings and Peace
Cindy
Cindy so glad you are doing well. just a word of advice about Potatoes, they are full of starch and carbs which we arent suppose to eat. Try baked sweet potatoes instead , delicious with real butter and fat free cream cheese.
You ask about miracle whip NO use real mayo instead when making your tuna salad .
Lots of luck with everything Jan

You are doing great Cindy! I can't wait until my clothes start to get loose!
I love your idea of us newer out of surgery folks like Renee D, Tammy V, etc. to stay in touch here on the board as we go through these changes. It's nice to have all the others farther out to give us advice on everything, too!
I know what you mean about getting the liquids in. My skin is kinda dry and I'm worried maybe it's because I'm not getting enough water, although I have been getting at least 60 oz. in, maybe I need more? Not sure.
Great idea, Cindy! I think we should all share and keep in touch on what's going on with us. I start regular foods next week - however, and I know it is probably a no-no, I have been eating tuna this past week. I haven't had any problems with it.
Amanda - I am having the same problem with my skin. I have always been a little dry, but I have noticed it a little more now. I think it could be me not getting in a enough fluids - guess we'll have to kick it up a notch, hehe.
So far I am down 37 lbs total (including my one week pre-op liquid diet). I bought a pair of pants on my bday (12/29) and they didn't fit. I am wearing them now...woohoo. People at work are really noticing too. It is a great feeling - I'm glad we all can share it.
Well - gotta get back to work, but I'll talk later.
Amanda - sorry I haven't replied to your e-mail yet, but I will this weekend - so busy!!!!
Hugs!
Renee
Sorry I didn't reply right away. My son and grandsons are up from Nebraska for the weekend so I have been spending all my time with them. Having so much fun!
I'm doing pretty good. All the up and down emotions. I have lost 30 lbs since I got home from hospital and 45 lbs. since my highest weight.
Been doing good with all the food we are suspose to eat. Haven't had anything yet that my pouch didn't like.I been eating the potatos and pudding and cream soups and popcycles and SF carnation breakfast.I know Jan said something abou****ching the potatos but that is what is on Dr. H's list for us to eat right now. So I am following his diet. Seems to be working fine.
Talk to You soon. Take Care and God Bless,Tammy V.
Hi,
Sorry I am just now responding, I don't get on here every day so I am just now seeing your message.
I have been doing good. I have had no nausea or anything. I am not having a problem getting my protein in, but keep coming up short on my liquids. I REALLY need to work on that. I just get busy and forget and then when I do remember, I can only drink little at a time and it is just not adding up the way is needs too. What do you do to remind yourself?
My skin is also VERY dry lately. Is it lack of fluid or something else?
I have been sticking strictly to the surgeons guidelines and have not cheated at all!! I go back next Tuesday for my one month check-up and will be glad to add some new foods.

Seems we are all having a problem with dry skin, could be fluids or a byproduct of the surgery? I have no idea :) I am just glad we are all doing well, I have been having a lot of trouble with the protein the last 2 days. and on the fluids, i just try to keep something beside me constantly but i still cant usually manage to get it all in.. its the hard part for me.
