Has anyone been successful in getting insurance approval for plastic surgery like a body lift?

I haven't decided yet if I'm going to do plastics or not, even though I could certainly use a tummy tuck, so have no clue if I could get my insurance to pay for anything or not. I've not heard of anyone here on the Missouri board that's gotten approval for plastics.  Maybe someone on the OH plastics forum has.

Hi, I know it depends on if it is a medical vs cosmetic procedure, I could of had 30lbs of skin removed, of my waist about 4 yrs ago, but decided not to since, my own doctor didn't think I could take the pain,  I have one of the worst case's of fibro in No West, Mo and keloids run in my family  the plastic surgeon said it would help my back pain, and ins would approve it, but I'm sure it depends on the ins co too, good luck

things on Medicare are approved by medically needed for quality of life. like a tummy tuck when you have rashes and skin breakdown. They have been know to pay for neck lift, boob jobs, too but doctor has to prove it is needed. I have been approved for a tummy tuck but havent done it yet, just had knee replacement and not anxious for another major surgery yet.

Yes I was successful in getting the FRONT half of my body lift paid for......you can read my letter and info to ins. on my profile. My case was the FIRST one my surgeons office had seen this happen....no ins had paid before. SOOOOOO......do not just give up on the idea. I truly beleive that teh more ins companies see the need teh more they will start covering it....just find a way to prove your case is MEDICALLY neccessary!!
