Getting Discouraged

Hi all - so far my journey has been a wonderful experience.  I lost 30 lbs in 3 weeks (this includes my pre-op liquid diet), but have not lost anything more since my doctor's appointment on January 29.  I eat 3 meals a day - no more than a 1/4 a cup at a time and know I am not taking in more than 700 calories with my protein shakes.  My water intake has been about 45 oz and then I have about 20 ounces of some other calorie free liquid (crystal light, etc.).  I have been doing cardio everyday.  Any suggestions or words of encouragement??? Thanks Renee

Sweetie hang in there....There is no set time for any of us to have a stall in loosing pounds.... Did you do before measurements? If you did then when you have a stall like that redo them and see how thing inches are going...Alot of times when we stall we are still loosing inches...Sounds kinda weird but it's true!  If you have not taken them yet then go ahead so you have them to refer back too.... Hang it there, you are doing fine..... Luv & Hugs...Tammy~ammy

Renee, honey,
You are doing great. Try to not weigh every day - I had to have hubby hide my scales at first. Now I weigh at most twice a week - keeps me closer to sanity. It is hard to not become obsessed with every pound, even at 13 months out, but I promise you will lose if you keep doing the things you are. Also, don't count calories. If you are doing the shakes and getting in at least 70 grams of protein and not eating the whites (bread, rice, potatoes, sugar, flour, pasta) you will lose dramatically. The more fluid you can sip in the better. But you have to keep that protein intake high.
Hugs,
Lana

This is completely normal.  It's a combo of two things usually, first your body is adjust to a rapid weight loss and sometimes slows down and adjusts - but more often than not, when the scale is not moving, the measuring tape is and you're losing inches.  This is one reason why I always tell folks to measure before their surgery so you can see results with the measuring tape too, not just the scale.  But don't worry - keep doing what you know you're supposed to, and the scale will begin to move again.
