Does anyone know a surgeon in Mo that does this surgery. sandy

Whoa - can I buy a vowel?!  Am I correct, by your subject title that you're wanting a doctor who will perform a Biliopancreatic Diversion-Duodenal Switch procedure?  I've never heard of that particular combination done before.  Or are you referring to a completely different procedure?

Ahhh - so you found this as a covered procedure in your insurance book or something?  Chances are, it would be either BPD or DS, not both combined.  You'd probably have more success in finding a doctor to do the DS, as I believe that's more commonly done.  However, you may want to research all the procedures to see which you feel you would prefer to have done, and then see if you then can't get your insurance to approve your preferred procedure.  If they would approve a BPD and DS, then I bet they'd approve a RNY, or perhaps one of the other procedures as well.  I know most doctors do perform RNY, and they might also perform a DS, if that's what your insurance would cover.  Do some research to see what your insurance will cover and what they won't and then go from there.

I wish you would call me, I know we would have tons to talk about.  As for your question, there isn't any docs in missouri that does the DS, Dr. Hornbostel here in Sedalia has it listed that he has done 1 but I haven't seen them post.  I am going to Omaha Feb 8 and I will try and get a copy of his booklet that he gives out at his semiars.  I know you are researching and it is a long and hard job. If there is anything I can do to help you please let me know.   Marylin
