need help
I am not feeling well and was wondering if how I'm feeling is normal. I took my pain medicine and afterwards I started feeling faint, dizzy, and very hot. I then sipped on some apple juice and put a wet cloth on my head. It kind of sounds like how some of you discribes dumping but I haven't had anything to dump on? Yesterday at the ER they took blood and my hemoglobin was low but they weren't too concerned about it said it was probably due to dehydration. I took my vitamins today so I'm not sure what is going on. I just know I don't feel well and not sure what to do? If anyone can help it would be appreciated.
Thands,

After I take my pain meds I feel the same way. Are you on liquid oxycodone? My brother is a pharmacist and said it is pretty intense stuff so I think having those feelings after taking are probably normal. I didn't get into him the side effects so these are just my opinions, but I am feeling the same as you.
I hope you get to feeling better - you've had quite the rough start. It will be all better soon though

Did you dilute that juice before you drank it? If not, you could definitely be dumping. { ask me how I know! I did that exact same thing right after surgery.
}
I also agree, if it's not the juice, then could be the pain meds.

Ii agree on the apple juice but, also if your pain meds are liquid, check with pharmacy and ask about sugar content. Sounds more like its the pain meds to me.

Hi Bev,
I'm about 6 weeks out and I'm pretty sure what you're feeling is the pain meds. I almost felt worse taking them. I had nightmares and just felt yulky. I ended up dumping it out about a week out and then wished I hadn't cuz of the gas pains and drain site pain (bad sideache),but I survived without it.
As for fluids the one thing that saved me was to make the sugar free jeelo, put it in ice trays and put in the fridge. Each section is 1 oz. so you can keep track. I lived on that for days. It's a lot easier to get fluids in that way, or sugar free popsicles too.
Things will get better. Three weeks was the " I finally feel good time for me." I pray all goes well from today on.....We'll pray for you.

Bev.
The advice everyone gave you is excellent. Please make sure you have something in your stomach before you take your meds. And please drink and drink and drink. And then drink and drink and drink. Eat popsicles. You need the fluids. Also honey, you just had surgery, and you are bound to be weak etc. If things continue, please call doctor. If you are not having a lot of pain, dont take the medicine. My daughter made me a really good cold slush when I came home. She would take Jello and only use one cup of grapejuice or apple juice to the small box of jello. Put it in little containers and freeze. Its like a slush and helps you eat something different.
