DIASTASIS RECTI

Does this sound familiar to anyone?  More than a few have it, and little does anyone know what it is/ Apparently this is when your abdomen muscles separate. Some have pain, others do not. It is not gender particular.                It happens to both men and women. However is more common with women because of pregnancy. I have heard that there are only 2 ways to fix it.  One is possibly with exercise, the other is surgery.  It feels like a hernia, when you feel your abdomen. I would like to know if any of those who have lost an enormous amount of weight have had problems with this.  Just like weight loss surgery, if you have the problem it is difficult to get it fixed, because of insurance. Plastic surgery is apparently an optional surgery. (as far as insurance companies are concerned) Have a great day, and remember 2008 is gonna be GREAT.

That is funny that you bring this up.  I went to the doctor for a checkup, my general doc not my surgeon, and i asked her why my stomach did what i call a baby butt bump near my belly button.  she said that is was a seperation in my stomach muscles.  I was open RNY I have a 13 inch scar from the surgery.  when i went for my 6 month check up with my surgeon he said he felt no hernias.  so i see him in march and that will be my year check up and i will see what he says then.  glad you posted about this. britt
