Hey Tammy, I am also on the liquid diet.  I have surgery the 3rd.  Question for you?  Are you drinking the shakes in a can or are you making your own with the powder?  I buy the powder High protein in a can at Wal-mart.  You mix it with skim milk.  It tastes so much better.  I actually look forward to the shakes with them.  I have some of the pre mixed cans on hand in case I am running around and need to have a shake.  But there is a BIG difference in taste.  I also think you fill up better when you mix your own. Hope this helps. Kelly

Kelly, The high protein powder you get from Wal-Mart - what brand is it, and exactly what is it called?  How big are the cans, and what does it cost? I ordered some protein drink samples off the internet. Wal-Mart would sure be more convenient, but hate to spend a lot if I don't know if it's something I will like. If it comes in small enough containers I wouldn't mind trying it.

Hey Kelly, Yes I have been using the premade ones. I don't like the chocolate at all. Today I had the French Vanilla, and it wasn't to bad. Better than the chocolate. I will try the powder. Thank-you for your help.I talked to Margie today at the office and she said that we can have a little bit of soup broth. But mainly all the sugar free stuff and the shakes. At least we can have something hot.Good luck on your diet and good luck with your surgery and recovery. Take care and God Bless, tammy V.

My journey to live life to the fullest!!!

I am on day 3 of my liquid diet and feel like i am starving.  I alo have found that the Big can at wal-mart in vanilla with skim milk is the best.  Today I spency $35.00 at GNC to find i could not evan finish 1 shake of it.  Backto wal-mart vanilla powder (sold in the parmacy by the slimfast low carb).. The best Ready to drink i have found is the low carb diet slimfast.  Ita is the best RTD, but the powder is best if you have time and a blender.  But still have hunger..........Lora

if it is alright with your doctor try eating a little bit of broth, or if it is the chewing aspect that you are needing try sugar free popcicles. they have no protein or anything but sometimes different textures, temapatures etc will help another thing that may help any time you think about food or think you are hungry drink a big glass of water as fast as you can , even to the point of being uncomfortable.  As i tell everyone,,,,it isnt that long , you wont starve and remember   Keep your eye on the prize.  We are here for you if you need anything.

I use Body Fortress from walmart and mix with skim milk.  For under $14 a can it is affordable.   I also have the protein bullits I mix with water and propel berry flavor or you can use crystal light to flavor them.  I am almost 5 months out and still supplement with my protein drinks.  I found the bullitts on ebay very reasonable and use them when I need the protein at work. Good Luck - Shannon

Hello to all, Positive, Dr. Hornbostel wants his patients on a 2 week liquid before surgery.  We have the choice of 3 shakes.  Slim-Fast High Protein, Slim-Fast Low Carb, or Boost Glucerna Shakes.  He doesn't recommend these after surgery only for the 2 weeks before surgery.  Tammy trust me try to can that you mix yourself not only is it cheaper but it tastes so much better.  You don't need a blender to mix it.  I bought a little bottle with a closable lid for 97cents at wal-mart and it has the measurements on the side.  Pour in skim milk and add 1 scoop of slim-fast, then just shake it up.  It is a big difference in taste.  I can only find the powder can at Wal-Mart right now.  It is still newer for Slim-Fast.  If you have any more questions please feel free to email me or call my cell 636-627-1812. Dr,. H. said that I could also drink the boost high protein and I found that the chocolate over ice was delicious.  It really helped me through the two weeks.  Layla
