I was wondering if you guys could provide me with some suggestions on how I can get all my vitamins and protein in.  I have been so busy with life in general and I forget to take my vitamins and when I do remember them it's like really late in the evening and I don't want to take them fearing that I won't get much sleep if they give you energy.  Maybe I need to set a timeer or something?  What do you do to remember to take your vitamins and how do you keep track of your protein?  Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks,.....Bev

Since I was out shopping alot recently..you can guess why.  I started to carry a zip lock baggie in my purse with a small piece of jerky (high protien), a days supply of my vitamins, energy bar (that I break into piece and only eat as much as I'm supposed at a time) and a baby food little tupper with fruit puree in it and a plastic spoon.  Last but not least a bottle of water.   When my room mate and I go out the first thing she says to me is do you have your purse food?

I found it helped alot so I got my vitamins and water in and had some good protiens on me incase I felt weak.  Hope this helps.

Peace in all you do,
Bel

I just have made it a habit that i started about 2 months before surgery to get all my vits in in the mornings when i first get up with my first 8 oz of water. about an hour after that i have a protein shake which is 36 grams of protein. and during the day i have my protein bars that i eat a little at a time on , if i get all of that in i have 115 grams of protein in from just that ,

Some set a timer, some divide up their vitamins and take them with them (like Bel) and other just take them at certain times of day (like Jan) - whatever you end up doing will be what works best for you and that's the habit you will develop.  I take mine as set times of day too.  And BTW:  I don't find that my vitamins give me bursts of energy like you're thinking, in that they would not keep me up at night.  I do take vitamins in the evening (as well as through-out the day) and they do not keep me up.

Bev I set my vitamins by my bed. At night I take them right before going to sleep. My calcium sets by my protein and I take that in the morning with my protein.  If you get protein from GNC you can get in up to 36 grams of protein n the am. Another way I get my protein in is by sipping on an isopure which has 40 grams of protein and 20 ounces of fluid. Right now you can also count your protein shake as fluid. Also, I put my water in the fridge already measured out so I know how much water a day that I get in. I hope this helps. Good lucj to you. Hugs

Hi Bev, Since surgery my memory seems to be pretty bad (I'm sure you remember me saying this at our support group meeting *L*) so I use my cell phone alarm to remind me to take my vits. I take thyroid meds in the morning so I can't take my vits/sups til at least 4hrs later. So I have my phone alarm set for 2p for my vits and 9p for my calcium. I've recently added iron so I fit that in some where between the two alarm times...usually at least an hr after my vits. Protein tracking? I use www.fitday.com to track my total intake. There are other sites that you can use for logging/tracking your cals, protein, carb and fats as well...here's a googled list: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hs=eKU&q=free+food+logging+online&btnG=Search HTH, Lots of prayers and postive vibes for your up coming surgery day.
