I am 13 days post-op and my doctor has said that I can start puree foods.

What does everyone think about pureed sweet potatoes and turkey? I am

sick to death of soups; however I want to take things slow. What do ya’ll

think about breakfast sausage and scrambled eggs, pureed of course? Or,

am I just rushing things? Am I insane to start two new foods on the same

day?

Unless your surgeon has specifically restricted certain foods from your diet at this point - then I would say pureed sweet potatoes and turkey would be fine.  Eggs too would be fine; but breakfast sausage might be a little high in fat.  You could try it - but that would be my concern.

Hey Jane, So glad you are feeling like you want to start experimenting with the food. As far as pureed foods go.......way back when I had my surgery (3 1/2 years ago)  lol.....We were told when we went to the pureed stage that it still needed to "drip" off a spoon.   You could get the sweet potatoes to that stage fine, but I'm not sure how "tasty" the turkey would be if you got it to the pureed stage.   Dr. Edwards may have changed that since he and Dr. Hodges did my surgery though. My week of pureed food I stayed with egg salad, pureed bean soup, etc.  I didn't try meat until I got to the next stage. Whatever you decide to try, take it slowly and don't push yourself.   Merry Christmas, Glenna

I got to looking at my list of foods for my pureed stage,  it said that I can have pressured cooked chicken blended broth to make it moist. I use to be a diet cook at Cox south so I know what foods puree well that I might like. I have decided not to try the sausage. On one of my list it stated that I could have clam chowder with tuna added. I thouhgt that I cound not have fish until later. Trust me I'm not going to eat it. I have been doing good with my soups and cottage cheese with just a touch of applesause to flavor. I am too scared to try any meat. That is why I am asking  for some advice.

Thanks Again

Jane

I did great. I had about 1 1/2 tablespoons of pureed turkey and a 1/2 teaspoon of sweet pot. puree.  The only trouble is that I have so much gas. What is this from? I have been doing good on that issue for a few days.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas

Jane
