Hello Everyone, I'm new to the site and will have my surgery date soon.  I know that the actual weight loss numbers vary but I would like to see some actual data from Missouri.  Also, I would like to meet a few individuals for support.   Thanks Jay

Welcome Jay !!!!!!    I also plan on having the lapband, so I go back and forth between the Mo. board and the lapband board. They are both great for friend's and support. Good Luck.

I had my lapband surgery on July, 25th of this year.  I have lost 58 pounds so far but as for how much you will loose is hard to say.  Each person is different.  I know I could be doing better if I would exercise more.  But, if I liked exercising I wouldn't be in this shape!  LOL  But I do notice that I have more energy now.  Before I just couldn't bring myself to get up and do things around the house and now I am hopping up and doing things all the time.  I also walk in Christmas parades with my dogs and there are not near as difficult as they were last year.  I am the lowest weight I have been in 8 years and I still have 150 pounds to go.   right now my goal is to just survive the holidays and not GAIN...if I loose, great but I just don't want to gain.   Good luck with your surgery and keep us updated.  I know the Missouri board is a great board for support.  I have been on the main lap band board but I still come back here more often.   Jennifer

I had Lap Band surgery on Sept. 24, and I have lost 26 pounds. I have zero restriction right now, so I have maintained and not lost any more for about 2+ weeks. Good luck. (Hi Jennifer!)

Hey Jay, Welcome to the boards!! I had the Lap-Band done on August 23rd, and I'm down 56 lbs as of this morning. Everybody's weight loss will be different, you just have to stay focused on what your goal is and keep goin. Keep us updated!

Nobody said it would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it!

Hi, I had surgery August 6th, 2007 and I am down about 35.  I have 7cc in my 10 cc band and I am going back for another fill.  Like Jennifer said, I know I would lose faster if I moved more!  But i feel better with more energy and I do a little more every day!

Hi Jay,

I don't know where you are located in Missouri. However, if you are in the Springfield area, you are welcome to attend the St. John's Bariatric Surgery Program support group, New Beginnings. Dr. Chris Edwards does many lap band procedures so you can meet many lap band post-ops at various stages.

We meet on the second Monday of every month at the St. John's Surgery Center, Classroom 4B, 1229 E. Seminole, Springfield, Missouri. We meet from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

The St. John's Bariatric Surgery Program has created a professional comprehensive support group system consisting of multiple meetings. We have members with all types of bariatric procedures to provide personal experience and support to others with the same procedures. We have two open sharing groups for RNYs and Lap Bander pre and post-ops, and their support members - something for everyone!

The New Beginnings Support Group is for weight loss surgery pre and post-op patients, their support members or anyone wanting to obtain information on weight loss surgery. We welcome pre-op patients, post-op patients (with any weight loss surgery procedure), family members, and the general public. You may be a part of our group regardless of where you have had your surgery, and you don't have to be a St. John's patient to attend. Everyone is invited!

Thanks, Cathy

Cathy
