Hey Jan and All,

Things are going ok.I called Margie at Dr.H. office yesterday to get my surgery rescheduled,so I am waiting for her to call back with a date. She said it would be in Jan. sometime.Hopefully she will call back today.             Need some prayers from all for my nephew Kyle. He has type one diabetes and he is in the ICU. His sugar went very high and he got dehydrated and went into ketoneacidosis(sp.). They told him that if he hadn't come to the hospital when he did that within a few hours he would have died. He's 18 years old.And now ,even with them montering what he eats, his sugar keeps spiking up to over 400.And on top of all that they found some kind of bug in his blood that can be very dangerous. Something about it attaches itself to your heart valves and your brain and causes lots of trouble. So he had to have a ct scan and an echo gram done. Haven't heard results yet but they are hoping they got it in time. And can fight it with antibiotics. So please pray for him.Thanks.             I'm having entire family at my house for Thanksgiving. About thirty people. So I am busy getting things ready for that. My son and grandsons will be here for four days. I can't wait. My niece is also coming and we haven't seen her in almost three years. She has a new baby that we haven't seen yet. So I am annixous to see them also.Hopefully my nephew is out of hospital by then cuz then we will have entire family together. That doesn't happen often.            Well take care all and hope everyone is doing well. Take Care all and God Bless. Tammy V.

My journey to live life to the fullest!!!

Good morning all!  I am in such a good mood today, I have been doing the happy dance every since I got off the phone with Humana yesterday.   I'm now a little nervous about surgery now that I have been approved it's all falling into place and starting to move faster, it all seems more real now.  I know being nervous is normal and I'm pretty sure I will be on an emotional rollercoaster from now until after surgery?  I went to Walgreens this morning and bought some OptiSource vitamins that has everything in them so that I don't have to take seperate ones.  I reread my binder last night I think I have read through that 3x now?   I talked to my dad last night and told him that I was approved for surgery and he doesn't really understand anything about this surgery but he thinks it's dangerous.  He told me that I need to really think about this before doing it and I told him that I have been thinking about this for a year now and I'm doing it.  My other family members are somewhat supportative of my surgery I think they understand more then my dad does of how much I need this.   My oldest niece told me that I shouldn't have surgery until after Christmas cause if I did then I would have to watch everyone else eat knowing that I couldn't eat.  I told her that I didn't think that would bother me.  Sure I enjoy eating during the holidays who doesn't but I truely believe that it wouldn't bother me at this point.  So whatever date they give me I will take even if it's right before a big holiday. I hope everyone is having a good day, it's a little chilly out and windy! Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers oh and patience for putting up with me complaining about the insurance company...lol  You all are a wonderful bunch of people and I'm so glad that this board is out there to offer support to all people.   Bev~

I guess I am more of a lurker than a poster lately as I check in to read daily after work. I am now officially 198 pounds!  I haven't been under 200 in over 30 years. Am hoping daughter & her family can come home for turkey day.  I know its a long drive (18 hours) but if they both take turns they can do it in 1 day.  Will spend Christmas with son and his family in Springfield depending on the weather.  Told Daniel that I would never drive in another blizzard like I did 5 years ago getting there when it took me almost 12 hours to drive to spf.  Normally I can drive it in 4 &1/2 hours depending on traffic.  I still get chills thinking about that trip - BRRRRRRRRRR. Take care all!

Hello Missouri,
Oh, I'm so ready for Thanksgiving. I'm jealous, Jan, that you've already had a turkey. I am really looking forward to that.

Today is DH's birthday and I got him a book and a Christmas ornament of the leg lamp from the movie "A Christmas Story". He loves that movie. I also got him the ornament of the little boy in that movie in his cowboy outfit but that will be for a Christmas present. We had some beef filet steaks so I thawed them out and I'm cooking steak, mac and cheese and lima beans for him, all his favorites, and I'll have steak and some leftover edamame. I didn't want to get a cake - too much to throw away - so I am getting him six chocolate chip cookies and I will stack them up and call it a cake!!!

My wonderful co-worker, Jane, is off from today through the end of the week. He father in Kirksville is having a serious surgery tomorrow so she is going up there to be with her mom and him. She's such a great person to work with - I miss her.

I have felt pretty good the last couple of days. I think I've discovered one secret - take the Tylenol every six hours and don't let the pain get started before remember to take it. I tend to get distracted and let myself get really hurting and then take the med. I think I am going to see the Orthopedic doctor in case my shoulder is a torn rotator or something other than bursitis. I really don't think that but guess I should rule it out. I'm just glad I got a handle on the shoulder pain because it has been a zoo here at school - it's registration for Spring 2008 and I've had about a zillion kids in my office wanting permission for closed classes.

I guess I'd better get this sent. I have been interrupted about 10 times since I started it and if I don't get it going I'll probably lose it.

Hugs and prayers to all of you.

Lana

Hi, Jan & MO Peeps: I guess that I am a "lurker" most of the time.  I don't post every day but I do check the MO Message Board numerous times throughout the day. I am down to 178 lbs.  I have officially lost 102 lbs and am in a size 12.  I think I could fit into a size 10 if it weren't for my skin around my tummy.  Hopefully in a year or so I can get a tummy tuck.  I still have 8 lbs to go before I reach my goal.  I wanted to reach it before my birthday.  However, since my birthday is tomorrow, I don't think I'm going to make it!  Drats!   Hubby has been having a rough time with his new job.  The General Manager is always cussing someone out about something.  I guess he cussed out my dh today and my dh told him he didn't do what he was accused of doing and that he wasn't going to put up with his crap.  There are only 2 people in that whole company who have been there longer than 1 year, that is the GM and the Senior Purchaser.  They don't have automatic deposit because not enought employees had checking accounts.  The insurance has a 2,000 deductible per person before it pays anything!  Needless to say, he will (Lord willing) find a job with better working conditions and benefits.  Please keep him in your prayers.  He was with the same company for 18 years and got laid off last spring.  He then went to work for another company and withing 14 weeks they laid him off.  He found this job within a week and while the pay is good, everything else is bad! Hubby stayed late tonight at work and should be getting home shortly.  He wants to take me out to dinner tonight for my birthday and wants to buy me something special.  He usually takes the boys with him and they buy me a Special Moments Figurine. However, tonight the boys have Youth Group.  Well, I LOVE my Precious Moments but have decided I want something different.  I really want a nice charm braclet and have been eyeing a couple on EBay.  If I can get it for the price I want then I will.  So I'm thinking maybe a nice charm to go on my new charm bracelet?  Don't want to spend a lot of $$ with Christmas right around the corner. My boys are doing great!  Luke, my 17 year old, is really busy and I think that is a GOOD thing!  He was a cowboy in the HS Musical Oklahoma last week.  All the kids did a great job!  He is still working with Micha, a 12 year old boy who has downs syndrome.  He is also doing "chores" for some people from our church to earn $$ for his mission trip to Japan.  Plus he has a really heavy work load at school and is maintaining a 3.8 grade average.  He was accepted into the National Honor Society last month.  Needless to say I am very proud of him! Jake, my 12 year old, is doing great too!  His 7th grade Varsity Football Team was undefeated this season!!  They are Leaque Champions!!  He makes A's and B's too.  He's a little bored and is ready for Basketball to begin.  He's a Star Scout and is currently working on his Life Rank.  My dh is the Scout Master for his troop.  (For those of you who do not know, my oldest, Luke, earned his Eagle Scout rank in July 2006.)  As I have told Jake, my expect to be the Mother of TWO Eagle Scouts!  :) Our toy poodles are doing good too.  Precious (our 7 year old) has finally realized our puppy, Roxie (6 months) is here to stay.  Thankfully, they are getting along and Roxie is finally potty trained!!  She only had 1 accident this past week. Well, my dh just walked in the door.  Gotta scoot.  Hope you all have a good evening! Debbie D. P.S. Jan, what did your stress test say?  Will be praying for you.

HELLO, YES I AM A LURKER TOO.  IT WAS NICE MEETING SOME OF YOU AT THE ANGELS WLS GROUP A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO.  I AM HOPING TO HAVE A RNY, BUT AS SOME OF YOU KNOW I HAVE SOME OTHER MEDICAL THINGS TO TAKE CARE OF FIRST.  I NEED TO HAVE A HERNIA REPAIRED BEHIND MY COLOSTOMY AND HAVE THE COLOSTOMY REVERSED, BUT WHEN DR. EDWARDS WAS READY TO DO THE SURGERY AND I WAS IN PRE OP THE ANESTESIOLGIST SAID NO WAY THAT MY PULMONARY HYPERTENSION WAS TOO BAD TO PUT ME UNDER, WELL YESTERDAY MY PULMONOLOGIST CLEARED ME TO HAVE IT DONE. SO AS SOON AS JO FROM DR. EDWARDS OFFICE GETS ME SCHEDULED IN I CAN HAVE THAT DONE AND THEN START TO WORK ON GETTING THE RNY. I ENJOY READING ALL OF THE POST.  I FEEL LIKE I KNOW SOME OF YOUENS ALREADY.   I TRY TO PRAY FOR YOU ALL.   TAKE CARE AND GOD BLESS HE SURE HAS BLESSED ME JANET

Hey OH Board, My goodness !!!15 people talking today..Is that a record ?I just wanted to jump on and say hi and we got our refi loan !! So that's  $150 less a month!! I went shopping today for Thanksgiving and also started buying my sf jello, crystal lite,sf fruit and I already have my first 2 months vitamin and protein powder ready for after surgery. I've got my bills paid up and got my money for deductible and gas and motel for my mother. We live 292 miles one way so gas is gonna hurt. I told my hubby I should move my surgery to Feb. I can't believe how fast time has gone by since the pre-op appt.Only 3 weeks and 6 days.., So I can't say a lot to everyone cuz there are so many tonight, but to JANET: Glad to see you on the board again!!I had pneumonia in July.
