Ok--Now my story----Get ready it's a funny one !!
It just didn’t start off well===
My married name is Peterson—but insurance card and drivers license had my maiden name on them----so they had to change all my info to my maiden name
Well they forgot to put it in the computer that if anyone calls I am indeed Amber Peterson—so my poor students thought I was dead when they couldn’t find me !!!
My surgery was at —I didn’t get in there until after 12N
I was put up on the ICU step down floor for observation, I have had past problems with blood clots, breathing problems—so they wanted to keep a close eye on me. It seems everytime I moved and then when I got up---my oxygen level dropped to the 80% (good is 95% to 100%)
Well I have back problems and boy let me tell you—with hours of lying on my back –that’s what hurt me the most---not the 6 incision areas!
I finally remember some stuff at ----the nurses I had were great but because I wasn’t on the 6 floor—which is termed the bariatric floor---I had to educate them some on my surgery.
So some of my stuff that I seen had Litteken on it---some had Peterson like my IV bags etc---that was just the start of the confusion !
I was up walking by 7 or 8pm—same day of surgery---that felt good!!!!
I didn’t get anything to eat or drin****il the next day at 1pm due to a mix up----the nurses thought I had to go for a swallow test and I kept insisting I didn’t have to----so when the house dr came in to see me—he was not happy that I didnt have any ice chips at least---so finally I get to drink and eat some stuff at 2pm after he explained to them that I didn’t have to have that test done! LOL
So when I called for my diet—they had it under Peterson not Litteken—so Oh lord that was another 15 minutes to fiqure out who I was LOL
The nurse kept telling me dr scott needed to see me to release me and I said No the house dr did that –he told me “
But no---if Dr Scott wasn’t here to see me by 2pm –he would call---well 2pm came—no Dr Scott---the RN put a call to him and he said No the house dr seen her Hmmmmm LOL She can go!
I loved my nurses but they were not as educated as the nurses are on the 6th floor are. It was just confusing and well I was tired!
But the name mix up was to funny—slightly aggravating after awhile.
And since I was in the ICU step down, because of all the equipment—I couldn’t have my cell on to take calls----That’s why Tammy couldn’t get me or my poor students—who just knew I was gone to Heaven!!!
But Im going back to work tomorrow—they have no sub for my students and well if I need to use the wheelchair—they have one there for me and we have a elevator. Im only doing one class tomorrow—and my dad will drive me, Most of my pain I have it with my back and hip with the sciatic nerve. Steps are not my friend unless I have plenty to hold onto.
I go Friday for my post op appt—so we shall see how much I lost.
Getting the drinks, jello, popsicles etc down---isnt to bad—I just pace myself and know I have a certain amount of time to get 60g of protein down and go from there as not to overwhelm myself.
Thanks to all concerned but Im doing ok—just was a Uhhhh different hospitalization!!! It was worth it and I would do it again! Cant wait to see a skinnier me as the swelling goes down, cause you will have some swelling on and around your sites--may take a week or so to go down so dont freak!!!! Love to all Amber
