How on earth did everyone make it through the last week.  I thought time would never get here and now I am like " can we hold on a few more days"  I see alot of people who had the last few day jitters..whewww how did you get through it....I feel like a train wreck of emotions I am happy, sad, scared, worried I am going to mess up.  I have the " what if " syndrome right now.  LOL  it is crazy.  LIke what if I drink to fast, to slow, not enough, my taste buds change, trying to think of varieties to make it through the 2 weeks liquids.  It is exhausting.  Still tring to find a calcium I like.   Oh and anyone who went to DePaul do you know what time they usually discharge on Fridays?  Hubby will have almost  3 hour drive to pick me up and we wanna make sure if we wont be home that someone will be here for them after school.  Hubby cant be there with me which is scary!!!  Well my fear and I could ramble on for hours........ Sorry I haven't posted much I have just been trying to tie up some lose ends.  Take care to all. (((HUGS)))

I'm 2 1/2 wks out - I had all the same feelings but was glad to get it over with. Don't worry about drinking to fast or to slow - you just kinda do it and learn along the way.

Also - they just changed the protocol - make sure you have a new book. I was on clear liquids for 1 week and then got to start the soft foods. I didn't know this until I got to my first check up because I had the "old" book. I thought I would be on liquids for 2 weeks.

I was discharged at like 11:00 am.

Good Luck!

Kenna, I was discharged by about 1030 a.m. but since my DH hadn't planned on picking me up until closer to noon I took a shower and then packed up slowly while killing the time.  There are just a couple things that have to happen before you leave - visit from the attending doctor, wound care instruction and of course removal of the IVs.  So it really is up to the doc and nurse when you get out, but my experiences was very good with both.

Hi... I am starting to understand the feelings of mixed emotions.  I have two weeks to go and I am getting a little nervous my self.  I know everything will be fine and you will be on the losers bench before you know it.   Btw I am from Murfreesboro, Ar.  Sounds the same, I thought that was kinda neat.  Hugs,   Layla

Kenna so sorry we didnt have you on the list for surgey on Wednesday. but know that we will be praying for you.  Dont worry about drinking too fast , you wont be able to. your stomach will control a lot of stuff, You will have head hunger but will think it is stomach hunger, the first couple of weeks are best spent getting to know your new tummy, it is a matter of relearning everything. We are here for you anything you want to know about. just ask.

Kenna!!  How exciting!!!  It's almost time!!  The ladies have covered your questions, and yes, it will all work out and you'll just know on the drinking thing.  ;-)  As for your kids and your Friday checkout time, honestly, I would have someone as a backup to get them - just in case, so you won't worry about that in case traffic gets backed up, or they run a little late discharging you, or whatever.
