appeal

I have united health care  choice plus. I also have the need because your fat exclusion. I sent them along with my doctors plea why I need it for medical reasons. 220/120 blood pressure, reflux and all my food going into my lungs making it impossible to breathe, sleep apnea spinal problems and cholesteral.  They ignored that and only looked at the exclusion. What can I do? My appeal time runs out in four days.

Have you contacted an attorney regarding this?  I don't mean to be discouraging, but in cases where the policy specifically excludes weight loss surgery; they simply will not cover it, regardless of the medical need.   I would try to contact an attorney and have them read over the policy to know for sure if an appeal, or a properly worded appeal, would possibly bring about positive results. 

Have you checked out the insurance forum?  There is a lawyer on there who consults for free.  I would pm him and ask him if ther is any thing you can do.  Good luck and I hope all goes well, but most of all don't give up!!!  Hugs, Layla
