Stop worrying. It’s scientifically impossible for you to not lose weight after the surgery if you follow all the guidelines. Right now your body is in shock from the liquid diet is holding onto everything! This happens to me all the time. If I don’t drink 3-4 bottles of water  everyday my body retains a lot of water to the point where my feet swell and I cant even fit into my tennis shoes. Those 3lbs are probably all liquid -- it's only been a week your body hasn't even begun to adjust to this change. Be prepared after surgery because of I.V’s you will gain weight again. I have read on the main broad where some women have came home weighing 10-15 lbs heavier then when they went into surgery. If the scales cause you this much panic than I would advise you to put it away till a few weeks after your surgery. Its very important, especially after the surgery when any added stress could delay your healing.

Cindy, How frustrating for you.  I think all of us have gone through the phase of thinking we were the one person who the surgery wouldn't work for - but guess what - it did.  Don't be sorry about your fears - we all have had them or are having some others of our own!!!  Right now mine is that I'll never ever lose the last three pounds or that I'll gain a pound or that I'll eat not enough or eat too much - you get the picture???  Glad you don't have a scale problem.  I have had to limit myself to weighing once a week - otherwise I make myself crazy over every ounce of fluctuation and face it, as women we fluctuate.  The best advice I can give you for after surgery is get in your protein and water and don't eat whites - sugar, flour, rice, bread, potatoes, pasta.  Assume you will dump big time.  It keeps you on the straight and narrow for a long time.  Don't try to find out if you dump - just assume you do.  Even if your NUT and DR say it's OK to eat mashed potatoes, IT ISN'T.  There are other things you can eat that are healthier and more satisfying and we never ever need white potatoes for any reason.  They can lead us down the garden path to other carbs and their most deadly form is french fries!!!!!  I am a nut about the whites but I have lost 108 pounds in 16 months - before and after surgery and that makes me an expert!!!  OH YEAH!!!  The point is that for me it is just easier to not push the envelope and/or test the boundaries.  I just assume things will make me dump and then I don't want or need them.  It's all a mind game and don't ever doubt that.  We are not normal people when it comes to food - we're addicts and we can rationalize and convince ourselves otherwise but it all comes down to calories in calories out (exercise) so get your mind ready as much as possible and listen to the good advice from people on here who are successful and I PROMISE you will lose the weight and be a new person with a new life. Hugs and love to you. Lana

Cindy I did the same thing? I was so worried however from my first visit with Dr.Scott til the day of surgery I only lost 11 lbs but a total of 16 inches so if you have not measured you may want to consider so that when those dreaded scales let down you  have something to validate your hard work.
