RNY on 01/06/15
be worse and the day after.. When does the headache go away? It is not that i am really hungry, just the headache and NO energy at all...  And to think, it is 16 days til surgery, and then liquid for 2 weeks after, so day 1 of 30.. LOL, have to laugh at the thought of feeling this way..  It has to get better because you eat so little food even when you can eat that it seems you would have to get used to the liquid.. I have drank 2 shakes so no where near my 100 gms of protein, but i am going back now even though i dont even want it.

Cindy, You can do it sweetie.  I am stilll on my preopt liquid diet.  I have my Rny on the 12th.  After the first week of my liquid diet I lost 22 lbs.  After the first two - threedays you will get better.  The head hunger is the worst.  Get some s-free jello and s-free popsickes they help.  You might try some warm broth to help your tummy feel like it is getting what it needs.  You can do it.

Cindy     Sweetie, I know how you feel alot of us felt the same way. I was on a liquid diet for 8 weeks I believe. After the first couple of days dealing with the head hunger was the worst part. I dont think I would of ever made it without the grace of god!!! And my S.F. gum and hard candy. I chew gum so much that my jaws would hurt but it really did help. Plus I would get a cup of ice from sonic and pour S.F. koolaide over it and blend it. So it was like a icy. Keep up the good work sweetie it is well worth it. Plus the 2 weeks that you will be on the liquid diet after surgery. I didnt even want to drink anything. I had no desire to eat at ALL!!! Just remember take 1 day at a time!!! You can do it!! Best Wishes Mel

Cindy, The liquid diet gets easier.  I recommend taking cans of any soup you like and draining off the noodles, veggies, meat etc and drinking the broth.  It is so much more satisfying than just plain canned broth or bouillion cubes or whatever.  French Onion is good and just pour it through a collander.  Also, I ate SF jello and tons of SF popcicles.  I still eat at least one SF popcicle every night.  It's my "dessert".  I lost 26 pounds in the pre-op weeks and it is 26 pounds I didn't have to worry about after surgery.  Your headache will go away - your body is just adjust ing to being deprived of its normal amount of food.  After surgery you will not care what you can or cannot eat.  It will be a challenge for you to get enough food in - believe all of us.   Most of us have done this step and we made it - you will too. Hugs, Lana
