First Fill Question

Did I read on here that if you start your menstrual cycle you will not be able to get your scheduled fill? I was unsure how my cycle would be after the surgery and it began the same day I had my post op check up-the 10th. If I am regular it should began the same day my fill is scheduled?

Does someone know if this is the case?

I did not have the Lapband, but did check into that before I had my surgery; so do not have any personal experience for you.  However, my logical mind is thinking:  what does your period have to do with getting your fill.  The fill is done through your upper abdomen and into the port, not through your uterus or vagina - so what difference would it make if you're on your period or not?    Perhaps a Google search might turn up some answers on this, just in case there's some missing factor here, but at first thought - it doesn't make any logical sense, other than perhaps someone may not want a fill if they were on their period, because they wouldn't want someone poking around on their stomach during that time.  A call to your surgeon would tell you for sure what their policy is on that.  :)

Thanks for the reply. I thought I had read that the lap band could potentially be too tight if you were already swollen from your menstrual cycle? I must has misunderstood that info. Thanks again.

No, starting your menstrual cycle will not stop you from getting your fill.  I've had 4 fills and they've not once asked me about my cycle.

No problem!  I remember that anxious feeling awaiting that first fill and wanted nothing to delay it!  When is your first fill?  Good luck w/it and let us know how it goes.
