Wow Moment! Emotional too!

Today my son went to a birthday party. He will be 10 this month. My son is into all the boy stuff! He is a fantastic soccer player and loves to toss a football and basketball. For most of his life I have been pretty ill-with diabetes, the brain tumor and then just exhaustion from my weight. I am still very involved with him and his school, as well as my older daughter. I am lucky I have great independent responsible and kind kids.

Today was one of his first boy girl parties so he asked me to stay until he was comfortable-which I normally do until I am comfortable with the people he will be staying with. I usually bring a book and look up occasionally and wave.

But today I did not sit there and wave. It was at a roller rink and I sang and danced and thought next time I come here I am skating! I do not care how foolish I look-I am not stopping fun anymore because of my weight. I looked over at my husband and said "We are having Alex's birthday here and I am skating with my son for his 10 year old birthday!" Tears came to my eyes but they were happy.

So that is my minigoal. Lose 7 more pounds in October and skate with my son on his birthday. This surgery has been a tool to change my life and I feel, besides being so tired, just great!

Here's to more WOW moments for all of us!
