First of all I want to thank everyone who has posted to my questions throught his journey! It has been a journey even so far but a good one. My surgery was on the 30th last Thursday. I left the hospital doing pretty well that Friday afternoon. I am on liquids for 2 weeks. I am on my 9th day of liquids and I do not feel hungry really but I am getting bored with the things I have been doing-any new suggestions...? I have been drinking broth, Glucerna protien drinks, sf popsicles, water, crystal light and sf cranberry juice. Does anyone know of a good protien drink that would give some variety maybe? My Drs. instructions say anything that can be blended through a blender with no lumps or bumps-do you think a cream soup is OK? It is not clear though? I was a little confused as it notes "paint consistency" too. I would think that may be helpful to me too. Just trying to do the exact right thing! I am working hard to make it! My husband who has been so helpful rented the full 5th season of the Sopranos so I would not be bored! I know after watching it I was starved! Those people ate the entire hour every hour! I know most of it is willpower but tell me am I half way through the hardest part?  I have honestly been dreaming about moving to solids and eating cottage cheese-BLEH Have I lost it?

if he said anything that was blended then you could have cream of soups too. just beware of the lumps of chicken or mushrooms in them. maybe strain them first.  i wouldnt try fruits put thru a blennder yet. as they may be too acid for you at the moment. the broth in chicken noodle soup is really good too, just strain off the noodles.  you should be able to have s.f. puddings too by now . just treat your new pouch as you would in feeding a small baby. take it very easy. the hungry you feel is probably head hunger not real hunger.  dont worry about it. if you are allowed to eat it would only take about a bite or two and you would be full.  take care  and keep asking the questions.  Jan

Bret, your profile doesn't say if you had RNY or Lap but I'm gonna presume RNY.  I experimented with thicker liquids such as tomato soup, sure satisfied the urge to have some different flavors.  I've been putting the unflavored protein mix with skim milk and sugar-free chocolate milk mix, but you will fill up easily on 4-6 ounces.  Once those types of thicker liquids seemed to go down fine is when I started to experiment with soft foods - perhaps earlier than they wanted me to, but only a couple teaspoons at a time.  For example mashed potatoes was a nice change of pace.  I'm not much of a cottage cheese person, but I hear alot of people go that route. I also hate the food  on tv as well, although I'm finding they are visually stimulating but when I really think about how the food would feel in my new pouch I quickly say 'no thankyou'.  Its not worth that heavy sensation most of those fast foods would cause.  Weird, still getting used to my body talking me out of the old eating life style.
