Tuesday - 08/28/07 - 11:00am Central Missouri Board, I just got off the phone with Bob's wife, Lori, and here's the scoop!  Bob went in for yet another surgery yesterday for a "washout" to clean-up and clear the drains.  She said prior to going in, they planned to do a tracheotomy.  After surgery however, the doctors said they decided it was not necessary, which was encouraging.  Another positive sign of improvement - no more open incision...after a week of an open incision from sternum to below the belly button, the surgeons finally closed him up. Lori said that although Bob remains semi-conscious (drug-induced), that he's been rather fidgety and was hoping that when she came in today that he'd be sitting up in bed wondering what the heck has happened.  That was not the case this morning, but the doctors have said they plan to start backing off on the meds and expect him to be waking up and sitting up over the next day or so. Lori wanted me to send a sincere THANK-YOU for all of the prayers and well-wishes sent to Bob.  She said he has a big stack of emails that will show Bob the overwhelming amount of support he's got.  She said from the calls and the emails - she doesn't feel "alone" like she did before.  Lori sounded much better today - not so tired and seemed much more upbeat and optimistic.  She said she hopes the next time we speak it will be Bob calling on his own to let us know how things are going.  I'll be praying this is the case!!! Now that things seem to be on an upward trend, it'd be great if folks could send another email to Bob and Lori - they need all the encouragement they can get.  Things appear to be heading in the right direction now, but we all know that when a person has been through what Bob has, things can change in a flash so our prayers and good vibes are more important than ever! Here is the URL again to send patient email directly to Bob: https://secure.muhealth.org/getwell/email.shtml Here is the address to the hospital for cards/flowers, etc: University Hospital One Hospital Drive Columbia, MO 65212 Thanks all! HALLELUJAH! I am so thrilled with this news. I am sure Lori knows that we are all family, and I feel like Bob is a 'brother'! E-mails will continue their way. Prayers DO change things. It was such a priviledge to be able to pray with Bob and Lori when I was there on September 4th. Thanks SO much for keeping us up on Bob!  LaNeta
