Cost

I am curious, how much more or less, does a person spend on groceries and protein etc. compared to the grocery bill before? Is it worse or better. I am going through with this no matter what, but my husband and I disagreed on how expensive it would be after WLS. Any input? Elisa

Well I don't know yet.. but I would think even with your supplements it's going to be cheaper. Youre really only cooking for one..versus 2. Two bites maybe 3 or four and your' going to be full. It may be hard at first cooking the right amount because your used to cooking bigger portions.  It was hard for me yesterday because I always buy a big bag of shrimp to feed all 3 of us and I generally make a bag or two of brocolli with cheese because we love it so much. But when i cooked it I only used one bag of Broccoli.. and I did go ahead and cook the whole bag of shrimp. They ate all the shrimp themselves when it normally feeds all of us ( i'm still on my clear liquids), and barely touched the broccoli becaus they were so full from the shrimp lol. So... I have to learn too. I can't cook all that and expect them to eat it. SO needless to say we have broccoli left overs for probablya  week lol. I can not wait till tomorrow guys. I upgrade from my clear liquids to full liquids.  I can't wait also to go to Doctor Hornbostel's office and see how much I've lost. I really don't feel any different and I can't see any difference... of course it's not even been a week but... I'm stoked to see the resuts after just 6 days whenI go.      Keep your fingers crossed for me that it's a good loss and I won't be disappointed. I'm being good, I'm not cheating. Hell I'm too scared to. I'm hoping to run into Charolette and her sister at the office. They said they have their follow up's tomorrow too :) Hope you all have a good day!! Denise

Dear Elisa,

Its actually cheaper now than it was before-believe it or not. I have 3 kids still at home-and our grocery bill-for instance, when I make a boxed dinner-I can now make just one-where when I was eating like I did before-I would make 2. The vitamins and supplements last for several months-and I do not run out of any one thing at the same time-the biggest expense is my protein powder-but I buy the 5# tub for under $30 and it lasts for almost 3 months-and so every 3 months I notice the cost a little more-but thats it. One month I may run out of my B1-spend less than $5-and the next it may be my B12-same on price, so, you see-its only every 3 months where its a chunk that comes out. I used to drink a lot of soda, I dont touch it anymore-and I would munch of other stuff-and yeah-my stuff-like sf fudgesicles or sf cookies etc-may be more expensive, but since I am the only one eating certain things, they last forever!! I buy generic (like the generic crystal light-the wal mart brand) and it lasts a long time, and I even switched my 4 yr old to some of the sugar free things and its still cheaper.  Good luck-and I wish you well and it will all be worth it-but its NOT going to make that much of a difference, where you will feel like you cant do it financially.  Hope this helps some. Love, Janet

Thanks alot girls! After looking at the cost of protein, my husband was like, "WOW!" He thinks it is going to be really expensive. I told him that compared to the way I use to eat, and all the sodas I drank, it would be either the same or less. Not that he cares, it was just a conversation we got into.  So thanks for the confirmation.  Elisa
