Insurance turned down

This is my first post.  I had been so looking forward to getting approved for the lap band, I got a call from the Dr.'s office friday stating that my insurance turned me down...has anybody else with United Health Care Select been turned down.  This is very depressing .

I don't have any experience with your insurance but I know of others that has tried to get approved for lap band and they won't cover it however they usually will cover the RNY gastric bypass if medically necessary.  So you might try getting approved for the gastric bypass instead?  Just a thought?

I'm very sorry to hear that you were turned down.  What the other poster stated might very well be true. I had United Health ( at the time of my surgery) and whereas each policy is very specific I was turned down for my original choice of Lap Band.  I resubmitted for the Bypass and was approved (after a little head to head fighting)...  turns out that they would not even consider the banding but would  consider the bypass. HI, I DON'T HAVE YOUR INSURANCE, BUT I WAS JUST DENIED BY MY INSURANCE FOR THE RNY.  I JUST WANTED TO SAY DON'T GIVE UP!!!  I AM NOT,  I AM GOING TO FIGHT IT ALL THE WAY!!!  YOU NEED TO ALSO.  TRY NOT TO LET IT GET YOU DOWN.  I BELIEVE THAT IT WILL HAPPEN IT JUST WASN'T MENT TO BE RIGHT AT THIS MOMENT.  HUGS, LAYLA
