Hello all, I have a question. I will be 8 weeks out next Wednesday. I have only lost 35 lbs. I am a little frustrated. I think I should be losing more. I have to admit I have not been exercising consistantly. I hardly eat anything. I am 5'2", started at 287.5 now I am 252. Just need some opinions. Thanks, Christy

Hi Christy Everyone is so different at the rate they lose, and I didnt do so hot the first month or two due to getting sick-BUT...I know when I felt better-and I was drinking my fluids, doing my protein and excercising-the weight did come off at a faster rate. Are you doing protein? Each surgeon is different, but from what I have learned on the board-its important to get in, at the VERY LEAST 50 g a day, and some are told 90 per day-without the protein, eating (protein first) and your water and excercise-your body is going to protect itself-like putting itself in starvation mode to protect its resources and that weight is not going to come off as fast, if your not doing the other things. your body isnt going to keep hold of the fat-its gonna let it go-because your not in the starvation mode. I hope this helps you out. I am almost 6 mos out (29th) and I have lost 146#-with 44# being pre-op, so I am averging roughly 20# per month since I didnt lose much that first month to six weeks. Good luck and keep us posted. Janet

Christy i think you are doing pretty good , the goal here is not to see how little amount of food you can eat and that is a hard concept to get into our heads after years and years of dieting. You have to have a certain amount of food in your system before the body is willing to turn loose of the fat other wise it thinks it is starving and holds onto everything., 35 pounds is great girl. At two months i had only lost 40 and though the same thing but just walking daily more and more and upping your protein amount to about 80 or 90 grams should get you going. You do realize that is an average of 1/2 pound a day dont you? if you can keep that up it will be gone before you know it. Im at the point now in my journey that i sure wish i could lose 1/2 pound a day. Would love it. Im losing more like 1/2 pound a week now. keep up the good work and dont be such a stranger on here. Christy....Wow...35lbs sound really good to me!!!! But if your not happy with it I would take Janets advice and do a recount on the amount of protien and water and all you are getting a day..... And I do agree that everyone is different so we are all going to loose differently at a different pace.....Hang in there I am sure things will pick up really soon.....Wish you all the best!!!! Hugs...Tammy H.
