WORD'S CAN'T DESCRIBE HOW I FEEL RIGHT NOW!!!!!

Well... I got a letter from tricare in the mail today and they denied me!!!!!! My emotions are all over the place. I called and talked to deena at Dr. Hornbostel's office and she told me that she got the same letter in the mail today. The letter said that I didn't make the 100 pound mark over weight, but their website states that you have to have a bmi of 35-40 and have two co-morbidies or have a bmi of 40 or greater. I don't understand. My bmi is 43 and I have arthritis of the knee(had knee surgery in jan) and I have arthritis in my hip and a disease called legg and calve perthese disease. It is when the bone ball of the hip joint just starts dying and it makes the ball part flat on one side. I got this when I was 6 and wore braces on my legs for 3 years. They told me that I would have arthritis of my hip by the time I was 18 (I did) and then they told me that I probably would have to have a hip replacement by the time I was 40. I May be crazy, but that sounds like more than enough to qualify. Deena told me to get my records from shriners hospital(for my hip) and get my pcm to appeal. I am waiting for my pcm to call me back to know what the next step is. Please keep me in your prayers and hope that I can get through all this and be approved... Layla

Im like you looks liie you have more than enough to qualify. get your pcp to appeal for you and there are others on here that have appealed and won. so dont give up. I thought tri care was pretty leinent with their approvals. Will keep you in my prayers. Jan

Have no fear! It's very typical to be denied first time out... those darn insurance companies aren't multimillion dollar companies for no reason... they make money by keeping more than they spend and are hoping you will give up, so don't! Hi Layla, I'm so sorry that you are being taken through the ringers. I just want to say please keep fighting as this is just a small speed bump in your journey. I certainly understand being on and emotional rollercoaster as I think I would have died had they denied me FOR ANY REASON. However it sounds as though you would definitely qualify and with all of your records things will move more smoothly. I will definitely send positive thoughts your way....
