Hello, My name is Kelly. I have been looking to have surgery on and off for 5 years. I keep starting the process and then something comes up and then I stop. Well this time I am really serious about getting the surgery done. I really need this. If I don't I will start having problems with my health. My heaviest was 298 pounds. I was able to lose some but I cannot get past 280 now. I need all the support I can get to make sure I stick with the process. My insurance will cover the surgery I just need to follow their guidelines. I am starting my 6 month supervised diet today. I have an appointment this afternoon with my PCP to talk about it and get things going. Hopefully by fall I can get my surgery scheduled. My insurance does require 6 months but the case manage did tell me that as long as you are making an honest effort to lose the insurance should approve me. Well this is my first post of many. I will be in touch. Thanks, Kelly

Kelly, I too have just started my 6 mo. Dr. supervised diet last month and also am hoping to have surgery this fall. I said I would never have this surgery but after getting several medical problems due to my weight I attended a seminar and knew from that moment on that this sugery was my answer. I have slipped several times on my diet but don't get too discouraged if that happens to you just start all over the next day. I have also started taking some of the vitamins that are required and some that aren't. I take Biotin to help with the hair loss that comes after surgery which I got that tip off from this board. Hang in there I have been told that the 6 months will go by quickly which is what I'm hoping!!!!! I know it's difficult just starting out but if you need someone to talk to I am here for you along with the rest of the board they have all been great to me and very supportative. Bev~
