Well, it's been a while for me since I last logged in, but I need some help. I had roux-n-y bypass in Aug of 2006. I made the mistake of eating 4 small baby carrots (raw) last night with dinner and I've been paying for it ever since. I thought that I had chewed them thoroughly but I guess not. Before when I've eaten something that disagreed with me in the past, it has never lasted this long. I was up and down last night and threw up twice. This a.m. I still felt tender but I was able to drink a yogurt smoothie and take my regular meds. I took my little aunt to lunch today and walked around the local gardening center and then took her back home. On the way home, I threw up in the car. I have been nauseated and unable to keep anything down. I thought if I laid in the recliner for a bit it might pass, but my stomach feels worse. I took some Tums but that didn't help. Has anyone else had this happen? I have tried ice packs but no relief.

Dear Karen, I had my RNY in Nov 2006 and I have had times where my tummy hurts for a couple of days as well. I asked my doc about it at my 3 mo check up and she checked me for a hernia. I have had dumping incidents-but the worst only lasted a couple of hours of back and forth to vomit-and I felt horrible the whole time....My tummy felt tender and hurting because of the vomitting, but I would really recommend you call Dr. H if you dont feel better really soon.....Is it possible you have a flu bug or something along those lines and maybe it wasnt the carrots at all? Just throwing that out there? At any rate-I hope you feel better soon and I am sending prayers up as I type this. Hugs, Janet

Do you still have your gall bladder? If so, sometimes Raw veges make it go into fits. It does with me when I eat Raw broccoli and cauliflower. Sometimes people that have bypass end up with gall bladder issues. You may check into this too. Good luck. Denise

No, I had my gallbladder out in 1996.I did go ahead and call the doctor, went to the ER in Sedalia at midnight on Saturday, had testing on Monday, and had surgery yesterday for 2 small internal hernias. I just got home this afternoon and am feeling much better. My doctor was great, he was able to diagnose the possible problem just from my symptoms and then order just the right tests. I love Dr. Hornbostel in Sedalia. Thanks for the reply. Karen S.- Grandview, MO
