I have a question about the dr. supervised diet; If you lose while on this pre-diet does that mean that the insurance company won't pay for the surgery and say you don't need it? My BMI is 61 and I know before my dr. will do the surgery it has to be 60 or below so I know I have to lose some weight. Is the insurance companies just looking to see if you can follow a plan or what are they expecting does anyone out there know this? Thanks, Bev~

Hi Bev, I just posted about losing 5 lbs. at my last dr.supervised diet and my dr. said if I kept up the good work maybe I could lose the way I was doing it instead of surgery, but Lana said don't lose to much and she's gonna give me some advice on that at the next meeting,so..... Also, the nurse who said I needed the 6 month supervised diet said it was to see how serious we are at this weight loss stuff. I'm not real sure if that's the true answer on that, just my nurses answer for me. Connie :-l

My doc said it was more to see who was serious enough to follow thru for six months and who could follow a routine than about actual weigth loss. It "weeds out" those who aren't as serious about having the surgery. Good luck Dannielle
