Frustrated and Confused
Hello everyone.
1. I had surgery March 7, 2007 for a Lap Band placement. I am loosing weight very slowly but I am loosing inches faster. At this moment I feel like food is stuck in my throat and have drank 2 bottles of water within the last 2 hours and I still have that feeling. I know that I chewed my food well and drank liquids 30 min. after eating. Before I left work, I ate 3 bites of a pear because I was going to work out and needed a little engergy. Maybe I didn't chew it enough although I thought i did. What can I do about the "food stuck" feeling?
2. My frustration is that although it has been 2 months since surgery, I don't think I have lost enough weight like I should have. I have lost 26#'s in 8 weeks. I had my first fill on April 12 and will have another one May 18. Am I expecting too much of myself? My husband can see my weight loss but I can't. The only way I know I have lost weight is by the scale and my clothes.
Also, out of frustration with getting used to getting full quicker, I ate 4 bite size twix. I don't feel very good about it and feel that when I slip back into my old habits, my body responds by holding onto the weight.
What to do---I know that CARBS are not my friend. Is anyone else having problems like this? PLEASE HELP!

Hi Lilly..
First of all congratulations on losing 26 pounds in 8 weeks.!! That's great, you should be very proud of that accomplishment. Now remember with the LapBand you will lose weight slowly.. that's how it is designed. Don't get discouraged when you come in and see the RNY losses, because RNY lose alot faster than Lapband recipients.
Now, the feeling of being full with something stuck in your throat I believe is a little common, but am still a bit unsure about this. It is possible like you said, you didn't chew the pear good enough. Make sure you do chew good with each bite and drink those fluids. If those feelings continue though, it might be a good idea to talk to your doctor about it.
When you get the munchies try Sugar Free popsicles, jello, puddings, etc. Those carbs will end up bitin ya in the rear on weigh day.. Stay Strong! You CAN do this ~!~!
Good luck hun.

Hello my dear litter mate....I hope and pray that you dont get too frustrated dear one! I dont know much about the lap band and how fast or slow it is supposed to work but it sounds like you are doing great! BUT DONT EAT ANYMORE CANDYBARS!!!!! You and I both know that they can lead to your down fall!
Just be thankful that you havent had to be back to the hospital 2 times since our surgeries on the 7th. And now I have another surgery to look forward to in a few weeks! Gallbladder! UGH!
I am losing faster than you but part of that is due to the RNY and part probably because I have been so sick! As of this morning, it is 50 lbs.
Keep in touch sweety and call and ask them about the food stuck in throat thing....okay? Or email Patsy! Love ya and take care, Sugar
Hey Sugar,
I am feeling a lot better. I decided that I Can do this!. I went back on protein only for 2 days and feel like I am back on track. I have to make a plan around my period time because I crave all kinds of things, but mostly sweets. Also, since this is my grant writing period of much frustration, I ate what I saw. I changed some things and have healthy protein snacks and protein bars in my office that will take care of my sweet tooth during stressful periods.
GALLBLADDER Surgery! Wow. I'm glad I had mine out the same time as the Lap Band surgery. I guess you are loosing weight so quickly that it is a strain on your gallbladder. You will be fine.
Thanks for the encouragement. Love Ya and keep up the good work.
