Another newbie question! I am planning to get an RNY but we have been planning a trip to Disney in Sept. If I am able to get my surgery in June or July, will I be able to walk around good enough? Amanda

Hello Amanda, To my understanding, each and everyone of us handle the surgery different. I had a friend that had RNY surgery done, and the day she went home from the hospital, she already felt like no one even touched her.. she did that great~! Then I've had friends that have had it done that needed 2 months to recover... The fact is everyone is different and who knows how your body will tolerate this surgery. I would think though, that you would be feeling GREAT by that time... and have loads of energy.. but that's just me, and I haven't even had mine yet. Who am I to talk?? lol I'm having mine on June 1st and am planning to hopefully be back to work by no later than June 11th~! Is that asking for alot... maybe, but my job isn't strenuous physically, It's mentally challenging. I'd think providing no complications you will be doing good by then and even be 40-50 pounds lighter as well. Good luck!! Denise

I was doing fine by the time i was out of surgery for about a month . I had quite a bit of energy by then and had lost 45 pounds by the time i was 2 months out and was feeling really good. You know everyone is different but i would say you would be fine by then. Jan

Amanda, I am 19 weeks out of Lap RNY, down 54 pounds and feel fantastic. I have felt pretty normal since about 1 month out. I had energy at that time so I don't think Sept at Disney would be a problem for you at all. Just be sure to plan your food and water, you will still not be eating lots of regular food so take protein packets, protein bars and be sure you have water at all times. You'll have more fun that you've ever had. Hugs, Lana
