Feeling Blue
I'm a little depressed today I found out Sat. that I have gained 2 pounds on my dr. supervised diet. I did really well the first several weeks but now I don't seem to be watching everything I eat and drink. I'm motivated to do this I think I'm just tired of waiting and waiting. I feel like if I'm having to watch what I eat and drink I would rather be doing that after surgery not for 6 mos. before surgery. This 6 mo. dr. supervised diet is driving me crazy I'm not one who likes to wait when I make up my mind that I want to do something or have something I want it now not 6 mos. from now!!!!!!!! I sit here reading the bords of all those who have already had their surgery and are making life changes and I think about how much I want that and how I think that the insurance companies are so wrong in prolonging our surgery. They are only causing us to create more medical bills along the way by making us wait. They are just wrong and I can't stand insurance companies..... I guess I just needed to vent a little...lol
thanks everyone for listening (reading)....Bev~
Bev you just vent all you want to. and it isnt really necessary for you to lose the weight on your supervised diet unless you have to lose some for your doctor to do surgery. is it? dont know what they want to prove by the supervised diet except control of them over you. because not being able to lose weight on a supervised diet is exactly why we are in the shape we are. after surgery the body has changed it is different you dont crave foods and you dont get so hungry and there is a difference between a stomach the size of a foot ball vs the size of an egg. I know you want it now and not have to wait but you will have to play their stupid little games for them.
keep visiting us on the boards and doing as you have to do and before you know it your 6 months will be up. Lovve and huggs. Jan
Hi Bev..
Hang in there!! Insurance companies have us right where they want us. They figure if we have all of these specifications to meet, we will just give up! Seriously, how many overweight people go to the Doctor to lose weight? I never did, prior to needing this surgery, because all my doctor would do was, harp about how much I needed to lose, and the way to do it was DIET AND EXERCISE!! BLAH BLAH BLAH! Like I really didn't know that, thanks DOC! lol My point is, The insurance companies want us to be discouraged, they want us to give up, they want us to not meet all of their requirements, because then they don't have to approve a 20-30,000$ procedure.
Girl don't give them the satisfaction! Attempt this diet, do your doctor visits and weigh ins.. if you lose weight on it GREAT... if you don't.. so be it. Don't give your insurance company the upper hand. My philosophy is... GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT!!!!!!!!!! Most of us have waited our whole life for this change, your 6 months will fly, just keep that chin up, and look at the finish line!
Good luck hun.

Dear Bev,
HI there!
I was just lurking around tonite reading some posts and saw yours and felt like I needed to share something with you.....Sweety-I KNOW its hard-I started my journey in Sept 2005-and I got denied 4 times from my insurance. I was put on disability-which was very depressing to me, because I loved to work and LOVED my job. Well, I then ended up with medicaid to people with disabilities-and dropped my Cobra insurance I was paying almost 400 a month for-since it wouldnt cover WLS-I attended my seminar for MO Bariatrics in July of 2006 and had my surgery the end of November. I thought that there were times I would go crazy from the wait, from worrying about weight loss-or weight gain-and I am telling you right now-from experience-PLEASE dont freak out over 2# because you can weigh in the morning and be 2# lighter than you are in the afternoon!!! I PROMISE....have seen it for myself a thousand times-IF you have already eaten, IF you have already drank-IF its your time of the month, IF its humid and you are retaining water-IF you are stressed out-and on and on.......The point to my madness IS-the TIME WILL FLY BY-IF you need to vent-we are HERE FOR YOU-to support you and to listen! We will always be here if you need us, and finally-we will be here when you are done with the stupid A$$ insurance companies requirements and you are approved and on the bench with us-its just a figure of speech-but we love all our pre-ops as much as our post ops-we are ALL in this journey together and we have ALL been where you are-maybe I didnt have to do the 6 month supervised diet-but I had to do over 8 weeks of the liquid protein diet-and IF that doesnt stress a person out-DANG....I was a ball of nerves, I tell you. I would FREAK out if my visit was around my time of the month-and you name it-holy cow it was horrible, so I understand your frustration, but on the GOOD SIDE-maybe this will show them that this IS your last hope-right?
I, too, found out that patience was NOT (and still isnt-LOL) my strong point-BUT, its all in good time. I would have done my surgery the day after I decided to-didnt know what I was in for-and the tests and delays-but....along the road-I came across some of the most awesome support people a person could ever ask for-and ALL are on this board-or have been at one point in time or another. Its important now to stress being patient, because once you have the surgery, you still have trials and must be patient while getting to learn about your new tummy and such....I am over 5 months out and just got into my groove and all right after Easter-LOL....thats been the most frustrating part to me...and I feel your pain, and your being anxious etc-and I really will hold you up in prayer for peace of mind etc-and I believe once your time is done-you will be sitting right next to us-and IF you need anything, please let us know, OK?
All my love and prayers, Janet

I just wanted to say THANKS to all of you for your reponses and prayers they have really helped to ease some of my discouragement and disappointments as I struggle to be patient with this dr. supervised diet. I really appreciate everyone on this board you guys are truly and inspiration to us all.
Bev~
