How many carbs should we have a day?
Hi, Missouri Peeps:
Well, my surgery was on March 5th. My scale has only moved about 3 pounds for the past month! I know we should be getting in 60 - 90 grams of protein. I am getting in around 70 grams of protein a day. I know we need to limit our carb intake as well. So how many carbs a day are the most beneficial for weightloss? I bought some 100% multi fiber Sara Lee Whole grain bread. It has 20 grams of carbs and 5 grams of protein per slice. I really like it and I usually don't like whole grain bread. I only have 1 or less slices per day.
Exercise is the next big thing. I haven't been as faithful to walking as I was. My family have has been hectic and just haven't made the time to exercise. I have got to make it a number one priority!
Any help and/or suggestions you can give me would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Debbie D.
Debbie i think it is like no more than 10 or 15 for each meal. not real sure about that but the bread is not something that you really need to fill up on. remember protein first. drink lots of water. and you are going to have to do some sort of exercise. doesnt matter what kind but it has to be something. get up a little earlier than the rest of the family and go for your walk before they are all stirring. take that time for you. You are the only person that is going to take care of Debbie. They may love you but you need to learn to love you too. and think about yourself first some. I know it is a hard concept to do since we have give give give to every one else most of our life but you are going to have to turn things around or else. Love and huggs. Jan
Dearest Debbie D.
Carbs are evil. Carbs are evil. Carbs are evil. You are doing fine on the protein but you need to cut out that bread. We don't eat bread!!! Or potatoes, rice, pasta or sugar. Just keep repeating those words. Also, you must get the water in to lose the most weight. And walk, walk, walk. You are your number one priority right now. Be really selfi****'s allowed. I decided when I started this journey that I wouldn't try to find bread, etc that I could eat, I just wouldn't eat any of that stuff. If you eat enough protein you really don't have much room for carbs. Give it a try - it's too easy to slip from one carb to another and WHAM!!! right back where you started. I know you can do it - you're my Debbie Dolly.
Hugs,
Lana
Dear Debbie,
Hi there. First, I wanted to say that I was about 3 mos out when my scale didnt move for 21 days-I was very concerned-and I dont eat bread or any of that-its very rare-but IT IS normal to plateau every few months from what I have been told. My surgeon doesnt require us to stay away from ALL carbs, there are good carbs and carbs in most everything, but being out 5 months, I think I have only eaten one whole piece of bread. I do try to get that protein in first-always-BUT...sometimes I just add another shake if I cant get it in, in the food I have eaten....I know the liquid intake *ours is 64 oz per day* and then some form of excercise really helps. I always walk with my son or family-and IF its raining or whatever, I do it inside-standing in place and then I do a pilates 3-4 times per week for toning....so its nothing outstanding, but any bit of excercise and YOU time you can get-is important-and you do have the right to be selfish about that since you worked so hard for the surgery....They make some tortilla shells that are very low carb and also dreamfields pasta has less than 3 carbs AND has like 20 oz of protein....I know each and every surgeon tells us all different things, but I hope you find something that works for you-and I hope your scale starts moving again because I know that can be so frustrating...I will keep you in my prayers and Please keep us posted. Good luck Debbie-Janet
