Missouri Folks!!...What is this a picture of ??

On my profile you will find some pictures of a...something and I'm not sure what it is! If you know please post or email me and let me know. Feeling like a city girl here, not knowing. Whatever it is, it hovered all around the flowers and plants I was working on today. Got some great shots of it! It sounded like a hummingbird yet it looked like it....I don't know....just please tell me what it is... Thank in advance, Deb M

Debbie, We were just discussing these creatures last week at work. One of my coworkers reported seeing the same things around her roses last year. She lives very near the Mark Twain Lake in northeast Missouri. It looks like some genetic hybrid of hummingbird. Too much like last day locusts for me!! Scary stuff..

Debbie they are called Hummingbird moths. lol nothing scary or unreal about them , cant believe you all have never seen them before. just a moth. Jan

YOU TOOK SOME GREAT PICTURES!!! I've lived in Missouri for 54 years and I have never seen one of these before! I'm glad to know what they are in case I do ever see one.

OHHHH I saw one of those yesterday, the first one I have ever saw, I didnt know what it was, its front looked like a june bug then this awful thing coming out the back..Deb I was afraid to get close enough to take a picture...lol...vesta

OMG! No, I have never seen one either. But its backside looks like he is part lobster. OK, so all I have had for 3 weeks is liquid and I am really ready to bite something. LOL Yesterday, my husband had a roll of quarters on his TV tray and when I glanced over I swear I thought they were Ritz crackers! Tomorrow is my appt. 1st post op appt and I am sooooooooooooooo ready!! Hugz to all GREAT PHOTOS! Thanks for sharing (I did see our first hummer today) Charlotte
