tired of always being turned down.
Has any one been able to find a plastic surgeon who has accepted medicare and actually gotten them to pay on skin removal from the stomach area. I'm also interested in having a breast augmentation done, the extra weight of my skin is cause me back aches. I've called a few doctors and they always turn me down, either they don't mess with insurance or the information they send to medicare isn't enough. Dr. Baker in Kansas could do the surgery and medicare would cover the hospital stay but said skin removal is cosmetic and I would be responsible for the doctors fee of 4,000. Please help me if you can, it's such a let down hearing no so many times in a row. Thanks for any help or advise you have to offer.
If Dr Barker works with Medicare, and they will cover the hospital stay, I'm thining if you can prove your skin removal is medically necessary then you mayhave a chance of getting it approved. In my exprerience Medicare covers all that is deemed "medically neccessary" and you can send them your request for approval with all the data to back that up. Send me a private message from the link on my posts and I'll send you info on how to make your case with the insurance. I got mine covered(not with Medicare) by goign at them with both barrells loaded....I've known friends who've even gotten the BA covered as well. Don't get discouraged till you've tried EVERYTHING!! Sometimes they just need to see your NOT going to give up and then they'll approve you to not have the headache! lol

(I won't have time to send the info immediately as I need to do it from home and have lots going on this evening!)
on more thing to give you some HOPE. Mine was the FIRST case that my Plastic Surgeon's ofc ahd seen to actually get approved for skin removal!!!!!! So when an office tells you they don't bother with ins, let them know you have extreme weightloss and it's likely ins will find it medically necessary and see if they would be willing to at least try for a pre-authorization if you get all the info together. Ins will want data though from your medical records showing a Dr opinion that your skin removal would benefit your health in someway.
A friend of mine at work who had WLS a few years ago has been trying to get UHC to pay for her tummy tuck. She's just been denied a second time. Says she's come to the conclusion they aren't going to pay for it.
If I could get some info to her on how to get it approved, I'm sure she would be greatful!
