WHATS HAPPENING THURSDAY
Sorry, it's a little late but while I was typing I heard an accident happen up on the highway so I had to get offline to call 911. Everyone was okay, Thank God! The car was making a u-turn in the middle of the highway when the pick-up hit it. The car was still on the road but the truck was down in the ditch on our side. Anyway...
GOOD MORNING ALL!!
Man, it's good to be back amoung the living!...lol I hope everyone is doing well and for those that aren't please know that you are in my prayers!
Jan...girl, you stay busy don't you?....lol Yes, those little trees got their blooms knocked off and the leaves on everything died but everything is aready, like me, coming back to life! Thank God!
I am going to put this as discreetly as possible so you will know why "the giggles" about the hummers. It is used as a male term for oral sex. Now you know!...lol
I will say...let some of those hummers (birds) get by your house so they can get to mine...lol My feeders are out just no birds yet. I usually have 7 or 8 but nothing so far.
Thank the Lord, we have been blessed! JAKE is fine! Yesterday he started pooping solid with no blood and he is back to drinking LOTS of water. I even got to play a little "fetch" with him and Gracee yesterday! Thank you Jesus!!
Jan...I never found out exactly how or why Jake was sick but I do believe that with him eating the grass, it was making him sicker and not allowing his digestive system to heal! I found an article on a vet website about why dogs eat grass and that's where I found out about me needing to keep him from eating it until his innerds healed. Like most people I thought it was normal for them to eat grass when their sick but I will say that I will NEVER let them eat grass again...well, at least not while their sick! Thank you for caring!
Below is the article where I found the information. *************************************************************
Foreign Material
Grazing on the grass! Nearly all dogs will occasionally consume grass. I disagree with the popular notion that "the dog knows he should vomit so he eats grass to make it happen". It's more likely that when dogs have a stomach or intestinal upset, or a sore or irritated throat, they will seek out grass, leaves, sticks and other fibrous material and consume them apparently out of frustration with that unending throat irritation or stomach ache. Once ingested, grass and the like are so irritating they can cause bleeding along the entire intestinal tract. You'd vomit, too, if you ate a swath of grass! Normal dogs eat grass simply because they enjoy the texture, odor and taste of it; so when fresh and damp grass is available they'll go for it. Don't believe popular myths that "grass is good for dogs" because it is in fact highly irritating and totally indigestible for dogs. Grass has about as much food value for canines as an equal amount of the Sunday newspaper. Dogs like to chew on nylon, plastic, compressed rawhide, electrical cords, expensive shoes, two-by-fours, rotten bones, wallets, and chair legs for one basic reason... it feels good. So, rather than thinking "the dog knows he should vomit so he eats grass to make it happen", (which really makes no sense), a dog will consume all sorts of fibrous, rough, non-food materials almost compulsively when the throat or stomach is irritated. Consuming these foreign substances adds additional stress and irritation to an already upset stomach and the dog then vomits the grass and other stomach contents. See the column written by Dr. Dunn in the March, 2005 issue of Dog World Magazine which addresses the question of why dogs do some of the odd things they do!

Janet...you get TORADOL shots in your spine? Wow, I didn't know they do that! I only get them in my butt cheek and that's the only place I will let them...lol
About the strawberry plants...I'm going plant my strawberry plants in strawberry pots and hang them on shepard hooks using macrame hangers this year. I think it will work and it will be easier on the back! If the birds try to get to them I will use the netting that they have specifically for that. Hope that helps!!
Are blue buntings the same as blue birds? If so, they are a magnificent blue color this year, I love them and the cardinals too!
We have lots of fruit and walnut trees here but with my back, I haven't made it out there too much so I can't give you any info. there...sorry! I can say that I have too many walnuts trees! I wish there was a way I could stop them from producing....whoever planted them, planted then too close to the house. I have slipped, done the splits and fallen because of those things! We have 5 walnut trees right out my back door and 4 more in the front. If I didn't love the shade from them, they would be gone!
I totally understand about the family thing and I WILL be praying over that issue until it is solved! I can't tell you what to do girl but FOR ME it would be my immediate family first! If it's here and causing problems for me and David, it's gone! That simple! But, my parents are deceased now and David's Dad has deceased. He was living with us until his heart finally gave out 2 years ago. His Mom...NO WAY! She has caused WAY too many problems for David, me and our children! We ended up having to ban her from our house for awhile years back, due to her behavior! Now we don't have anything to do with her, with the kids being grown and the fact that David's Dad is gone. She says she doesn't know why we feel about her like we do but she does...trust me! No one can be THAT MEAN and NOT realize it! David's Dad was a man that had one true love his whole life and that love was for David's Mom...we didn't understand it but we respected his wishes and David had promised his Dad that he would allow her access to our home so that he could see her but that once he was gone David would have nothing to do with her and he has stuck too it! It's sad that it has to be this way but she has given us no other choice! Good Luck with your situation!
Melissa...I don't wanna stick my nose where it doesn't belong but I wanted to suggest to you that if you are your Hubby's Father's caregiver, did you could get paid for doing so? Does you have home health care coming in to care for him? If not, you might want to look into it. We had them here for David's Dad and they were lifesavers for me! They bathed him, changed his bedding, help him with his physical and speech therapies as well. They were heaven sent as far as I was concerned! If you FIL has a condition that may take his life within the next year like heart disease or cancer, you may want to look into Hospice! They pay for all the meds that he is on that pertain to his illness. They saved us over a thousand dollars on the prescriptions alone!
Hospice and Home Health Care will also will help you in renting any equiptment that is needed for your FIL like oxygen, suction machines, air mattresses to keep bed sores away if he gets bedridden, IVs...you name it and the best part is they do all the work of ordering the stuff for you so you won't have that headache. I know your FIL probably isn't that bad but I just wanted you to have a head's up in case he does get worse. I'm sorry that I have forgotten all the things that were wrong with him, I guess being sick took it out of me mentally as well as physically! I have just noticed people mentioning how much you were going through with him so I thought I would toss you a little info to help you out. Good Luck and know that I will be praying for you and your family!
CONGRATS!! on the tummy tuck!! Way to go!!!
Susan..your welcome on the TORADOL information! I will pray that it helps you like it does me! My advice on the run around your getting is "Hang in There" I'm sorry I don't have more for you on that but know that we all have been through our share of "Runarounds" and the "Hoops and Hurdles" we totally understand and will be praying for you! Have faith and trust me, once the ball get a rolling, it will be over before you know it!
I had been doing research on wls for probably the last 10 years but went to my first seminar back in June of last year (I think) with Dr. Malley. He didn't take Medicare and the insurance we had at the time was Coventry and they don't cover wls. Then I found Dr. Hornbostel and attended his seminar on wls on July 4th of last year....with all the hoops and hurdles jumped, I got my date and was set for surgery on 01-26-07. Try to be patient and if you pray, pray hard and stay strong in your beliefs!
Well, I need to go do something....don't know what yet but I'll find something...lol
May God Bless all of you and your families, Deb M
