Need new psychologist

Does anyone know a good psychologist in the st. louis, mo area, who is helpful, positive, and willing to write the release letter for the lap band surgery? I had a less than pleasant experience on the phone today, just trying to arrange an appointment. thank you bret renee

Hi Bret. I am having the same problem. I have a psyciatrist that did my evaluation and sent it to my Dr and today I found out that they might not except it because she is out of Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, (she is doing her residency there) and may not be licensed yet. Makes no sense to me how a doctor can see you for close to a year, prescribe medication and make other important decisions like that where they have to evaluate you, but they cant evaluate you for a surgery???? If I find one soon I will post here for you please do the same. Thanks Susan

Hi Guys...If yall don't find one near the St.louis area let me know....I seen on in Cape Girardeau and she was wonderful...so nice and so easy to talk to....and she has no problems with WLS...she thinks is great there is a tool of such to help people with the problem.....I know its a few hours from yall areas but if you can't find anything else let me know....I drove 1 1/2 hrs to see her and I am so glad I did.....Good Luck..Tammy H.

I went to see Dr Peaco in Wentzville. His office is with Dr Sloan. They are near the hospital. He did my eval and he was great! Can't say enough about him. At the end of our interview his comment was Looks like we are going to lose some weight. Good luck, Bel

My surgeon refered me to a psychologist. Her name was Bonnie Swender ( not sure on the last name) My insurance wouldn't pay for my visit with her but accepted her consult. So my out of pocket pay was actually cheaper than what the office charges. she charged me $75. You could call Dr. Van Wagners office for her number. his number is 314-776-7112. Good Luck

Thanks everybody I appricate all the help and suggestions. I hope that the one I got works I have to wait until next Weds, (dr will be back then) and find out. I think I will make an appointment with one of yours just in case and then cancell if I dont have to have another one. Thanks again, Susan
