Hernia OOOOWW!
I have a really larger hernia that I have had for at least 13yrs. It has never bothered me. I showed it to one of my WLS surgeons and he said after I lost a large amount of weight he would go in and fix it and remove some excess skin too.
Well, now it hurts. This is the second incident of pain. The first time I think I slept wrong and made it really sore for a few days but it got better pretty quick.
This time -last Friday morning about 1am I rolled over and got the most excruciating pain that didn't go away for a long time. I finally got on the couch -with help and got comfortable and fell asleep. Since then it's been a very slow process of healing. I am a little less sore every day but the first couple of days were horrible.
I contacted my doctor last time and the nurse gave me some things to look for and offered to set me an appointment but I waited it out.
I've heard of belly binders that support the hernia area and it does feel better when it's held in. Does anyone know where I could get one?
I'm gonna get an appointment and get it checked out but until then I could use some advice and prayers for healing.
Thanks everyone,
Dannielle

Girl....Do I know what you mean about the hernia situation!!!!!! I have only had mine for about a year or so but it sure has been a pain in the butt.......I use to sleep partly on my side and partly on my stomach......but now I have to sleep on my back and it just kills me at times to have to sleep that way....Untill I had to go on my bi-pap I slept in a recliner to sleep more comfortable.
My pcp told me no lifting, bending or squatting!!!! That's pretty well impossible lol lol....she told me to watch for discoloration in that area. But they don't want to fix it till I loose weight because it will just end up forming again.
I have thought about some kind of suport for mine as well.....When I go to town and I am on my feet for long at all it starts feeling like my insides are coming out!!!!! My hernia has gotten to where it gets to me faster than my back when I am on my feet long. But I wasn't sure if I could get a belly binder with my size or not....Maybe I should ask about it and see if I can...Might make things much better....
Just wanted to drop in and say ...OUCH!!!!! your not alone with those darn things lol lol....Good luck with it....God Bless.....Hugs....Tammy H.
I have had a Hernia and have had it repaired. All I can say is don't put it off. It's pain you don't need to deal with and it's easily fixed. My recovery was about 3 weeks before I felt like it was never there. Also lasting pain with a hernia can be dangerous because if it becomes strangled, it can cause skin death. Meaning it loses blood supply. Also the longer you have it the larger it can become.
Please see the doctor as soon as you can.
Hugs,
Bel
Wow girl - 13 years you've lived with this?!!! I can't imagine!! I developed a hernia post-op and had it repaired pretty quickly. I can give birth without drugs and really not horrible, unbearable pain - but with the hernia, I nearly passed out from the pain. I wouldn't let it as it can strangulate the intestine and really cause some problems. Get thee to the doctor my dear!
