Old habits are back
I need help from the "old-timers". I'm almost 2 years post-op, and have gained 10 pounds since Christmas. Dr. Hornbostel thinks it's partly because of the insulin. But...some bad habits have crept back in my life, stress eating, grazing.
How do I get back on track? No way am I going back to the way I was before surgery.

a little bit of help...I'm almost 3 years post op...so I understand your struggles....
start keeping a food journal.....there is a free one online....with www.fitday.com.
especially, when you are in the grazing mode...like I have been....it is so easy to lose track of everything you eat.....so write it down....

One of the first things that you have done is REALIZE what is going on here. It is very easy to graze your way through your day. I believe that many of us can raise our hands and attest to this.
One thing that has helped me out tremendously is realizing that I need to drink more (water you silly boobers... NOT alcohol!!! *LOL*)... I set myself up to drink at least 3-4 bottles of water before I go to lunch and then I try to do at least another 2-3 in the afternoon. That is above and beyond my usual fluid intake of the day with coffee/diet soda etc.
I have found that on the days that I push to get my water in that I have almost NO cravings or inclinations to graze. They have always said that most of the time we think we are hungry that we are actually THIRSTY and I am really starting to think that it is not just all talk.
It seems to work for me.. PLUS it is a known proven fact that we "loose" our weight through cellular respiration, perspiration and other bodily functions. So bottom line.
WE GOTS TO GET OUR WATER IN IF WE WANT THE FAT OUTTA THE OLD BODS...

Girl, I'm right there with you...and damn angry at myself for it!!! Unfortunately, it's a bit more than 10 pounds I've picked back up!!! I'm going to force myself to get back to drinking the water...and I'm going to go back to nothing but protein for at least a few days, just to get the carbs out of my system, as that is what I'm craving BIG TIME!!!!
