Help! Need a Mentor and/or Pen Pal on PreCert Program to Get through this
Hi Jennifer,
I am half asleep so I may have missed something. But as far as an exercise program? I didn't have to do it but I did have a Dr. write a perscription for the YMCA water exercise classes. Maybe you can ask your Dr. to do that if you have even a community center with a pool. Insurance should pay for it. I am pre-op and having surgery the 23rd.
Welcome to the board. Believe me, everyone here has been a blessing in some way to me. A great bunch of peeps.
Keep us posted on how its going.

Hi Jennifer,
Welcome to the Mo. board. Congratulations on your new journey it will be well worth all that you have to go through believe me! I had the surgery 15months ago with Dr. Eagon and Barnes Jewish Hospital. I didn't have to do the 6 month diet so I can't give you any help there. But I'm here for any support or cheering on you may need! I live in Belleville, IL 16 miles from St Louis. I'm 47 married 2 children that are grown and gone. If you just need to vent or something I'm online most days.
Good luck!
Hugs,
Anna
Hi Anna,
Look at you! What a great success you are. I bet you feel great!
My hubby works in Dupo, IL so we are in the process of moving closer to your part of the world, but we haven't found a place yet.
I have a question. Just about everyone in town is going to the DePaul WLC. Dr. de la Torre seems to be THE doc to see, but he is very busy, doesn't meet with you until you get precert and I am not looking forward to a stay at DePaul. I know DePaul WLC does a good job of marketing and they have created a very commercial setting, but I really didn't see much of an alternative in town. I know nothing about your surgeon. I looked him up and his resume is very impressive, but it looks like he does a lot of other gastrointestinal surgeries. Why did you choose him? Did you compare him to Dr. de la Torre, and if so, why did you go with Dr. Eagon?
And as for venting, I seem to be doing it daily. I have been housebound for nearly 4 years, not due to my physical problems so much as severe depression and anxiety. Getting close to this surgery is the first time in YEARS that I have been able to focus on anything. I have researched this to the point of obsession and I am extremely ready to go. The 6 month diet for me is like forcing a 5 year old with ADD to sit in a chair for a day! I am still just sitting around, but my mind is bouncing off the walls
Thanks for writing, Anna it helps me to stay focused and motivated!
Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,
Welcome, I too am fairly new here too. I have all of my precert stuff done and waiting for my consultation appointment on May 2nd. I will be 29 next week and i have 2 daughters: Alyssa (5) and Chloe (3). I understand your unwillingness to get excited about all of this, so if you ever need any one to chat with feel free to contact me. Even though I am not as close to your age as I am sure you are looking for. I hope you find who you are looking for.
