I am having vsg on april 24th and was wondering how long I have to be off work. My Dr is P. Hornbostel in Sedalia. I am hoping to go back after 1 week on lite duty. My boss is ok with that also. Does anyone have a idea of what Dr. H suggest?

He does say that it is based on how you are doing. But his suggestion is no less then 2 weeks. I would say that one week would be pushing it since you wont be on soilds yet I am sure and you do get tired easy that first week to two weeks. I am planning on going back in 2 weeks.

I just had my LAP RNY on 2/14/07. I have a desk job and I went back after 2 weeks. I wouldn't suggest going much sooner than that but it's really up to how you feel. I didn't have the strength and was too sore to go sooner.Talk to your doctor and play it by ear to see how you feel afterward. Don't set the expectation for your self to be ready after a week. You don't want to be disappointed. Good luck, Dannielle

Virginia, I planned to go back after less than two weeks but four days after surgery I caught a terrible cold/bronchitis and that set me back. I ended up going back at exactly two weeks and was fine all day. I am an administrative secretary so I mainly sit at my desk all day. I think if I hadn't had the cold I could have gone back a little sooner. You'll just have to play it by ear. Hugs and love, Lana
