I think it's pretty standard now for everyone to be on the liquid diet anywhere from 7-14 days before surgery. Hugs, Anna

Sherry....Hello & Welcome to the board! I'm not to the clear liquid diet for surgery yet but I have been doing a liquid protein diet for about 5 1/2 weeks now...It's not been easy and I have had to eat some with it so I hope I do better with the clear liquid diet if I have to do it...... Hope we hear more from you and hope things go well with your surgery. We will all be praying for you! .........God Bless........Hugs.....Tammy H.

Tammy, What a small world, I grew up in Gideon!!! The clear liquid diet really sucks. My husband brought home fried chicken livers ( which I love) Thank goodness where he got them fried them way to hard. I took all the breading off 1 and ate it. It has gotten easier today. Thank you guys for all your kind words. Sherry

I had to do a 2 week liquid diet. I got to have protein drinks and sf jello. It was hard but after about 2-3 days it gets easier. Good luck. I had my surgery on March 28 with Dr. Richardson. I had my drain and staples removed yesterday.

I had to do two weeks of liquid diet but I could have protein drinks and I was not sugar free. Get yourself some sugar-free popcicles, they're the bomb. Also, instead of canned broth or bouillon make whatever soup you like, canned or home made, and drain the broth off that. It's so much tastier and seems more filling and dense. The liquid diet gets easier after a while. And after surgery you won't care what you are eating. We'll be praying for you. Hugs and love, Lana

Everyone is so helpful here. i am so glad I joined. I understand the clear liquid diet something to do with your liver. Boullion cubes are horrible. I lost 3 lbs in 1 day. I figured after the surgery I wouldn't want to eat. So I glad to hear that. Sherry
