How many grams of protein and carbs are you allowed?

My first doctor's appointment is on the 3rd, and I know I can find out then, but I thought maybe someone could give me some insight into the max. amount of carbs and protein a person can have during the day? What is it before and after surgery? It seems everything has carbs in it, and I get the lowest amount I can find, but I don't know how much is too much. Also, should I be drinking protein shakes now? I think at the seminar they said you could drink Carnation instant drink, but I couldn't remember. How many carbs can the drink have in it? Thanks for your responses to all of my questions. I keep asking and you all keep answering and I appreciate it.

Hi Elisa You will have a NUT tt you at the visit. My dr which is at MO Bariatrics wants us to stay below 5 carbs and sugars on our protein shakes. When you get to that point where you have to start them....most of us can give you the advice on which ones taste the best so you dont waste a lot of money like I did trying to find one you like. Now-since I am 4 months out-I can tell you that they like us to get AT THE LEAST 50 g of protein per day, but up to 70. Each dr is different-but thats what ours says. I do not drink anything carbonated or with carbs in it-except milk. I went off all sodas and sugar in July and had surgery in November-but I wanted my body use to the changes so I didnt hammer it all at once-LOL....when I buy yogurt or things like that, I just look for the least amt of carbs etc...I dont feel like I helped you much- but keep us posted as to what you find out-and keep asking-thats what we are here for-and welcome to the board-its good to see ya!!
