How long does it usually take?

How long does it usually take for Medicaid to respond after your first doctor's appointment? Do they send the letter right away? Have they ever sent the letter before your first doctor's appointment, if you have all your testing done? I was just wondering how long I should expect to wait on my acceptance. I am looking at it like I am accepted though I know I could be denied. I have high blood pressure, epilepsy, bulging disc, and I also had a small stroke in Nov, 05. I hope those are enough to get me approved. My PFT was great as was my stress test.

I think it depends on what your Dr. states about your weight.And the effect it has on your body from his point of view.But you should have no problems.It usally don't take real long.Just pray and believe God has heard your pray.I'll say one to.Have a wonderful day. CJ

Elisa...I would say that is plenty enough of medical problems....I have Mo Medicade and I got my approval with in 2 weeks after the doctors office sent in the request....I had a very high BMI..high blood pressure...borderline diabetic.....sleep apnea.....pain in my hips,knees,hips and ankles and I just found out I have a disc starting to buldge. My doctor is Dr.Scott in Columbia and he told me that medicade was starting to do much much better on all the WLS stuff.....He has even been getting them to approve doing the WLS in two steps for people like me that is at such a high weight and BMI. I will be having the sleeve done and then when I loose enough weight I will have the other done....... I don't know that they will aprove you before you have your first appt because the doctor will have to send in the request...but it didn't take long at all for me to get mine.......Good Luck on your journey....hope you keep us updated on how things are going with your progress.......Tammy H.

Just to the left of this forum is (Insurers)and there you will find others who have the same Insurance as you,and some will say how long it took them and hoops they had to jump.Goodluck hun and Godbless.
