~Reunion Update-Questions & Suggestions Welcomed~
Hello MO board~
As most of you know, I have been working on getting our reunion organized for our board. Am trying to get this done in the Lake of the Ozarks area since it is a central location....However, I am running into issues with minimum nights stay required (2-5 nights) very high deposits to hold the room(s), or just flat out too much money per night....some were over $200 per night. Also, if someone just comes in for the day, some resorts want $5-$25 PER extra person not staying overnite. Those of you that have contacted me via email-I have looked up the resorts you advised me on, and they have fallen into one of the previous situations....So, I wanted to send out a quick post to get some opinions and suggestions.
So far, we have one resort who will accomodate us DURING THE WEEK and in the OFF SEASON...which would be before May 24th or after Aug 21st, excluding Labor Day weekend, of course. That one is for one nighters. How many could/would want to do this during the week? I know for myself, my hubby will not be able to take time off during the week to attend....but majority will rule-so if you want to do it during the week-we will.
We have some others who will TRY to accomodate us-and keep our reservation deposits to a minimum....they are:
www.lakeview-resort.com- they are 40% of reservation plus tax at time of booking.
www.sunsetbr.com-2 night stay required, one night deposit when booking
www.robinsresort.net-we can stay one night only-all condo/apartment type set up and deposits just for what you reserve-although it says 3 nights non-refundable deposit on their web site-I did contact them and they wont require that.
I had a few that recommended Branson-and I have done some research for that as well-there are 3 there that can accomodate us.
www.coopercreekresort.com-they have cabins, tent sites AND RV sites as well
www.greenvalleyresort.com-they are all cabins-but have gathering areas etc
www.tribesman.us-they have a pavillion we can reserve for free for our get together
Please check these out-and give your opinions on where you would like to be, how many nights you would want to spend, if you want to go before end of May or after August, and if you have ANY other suggestions-PLEASE let me know....IF someone knows of a place that will allow one nighters, etc-please feel free to chime in-any and all suggestions are appreciated.
I have a couple more places I have left voice mails for-or emailed and waiting for a response. Some places dont open for the season until April 1st, so this isnt in concrete, just wanted to throw this out and see what you all think about it.
Love to all, Janet
Janet,
Thanks for all your work. In looking at the sites I liked the look of Cooper Creek, it looks not too fussy and we're not very fancy. However, it's in Branson area so that might be way far for North Missouri folks. I work so going during the week wouldn't be ideal for me. I prefer to only stay one night. All that said, I'm really quite flexible so let's see what others think too.

What about Lake Stockton. maybe that is more in our price field. that would be a little better as far as the northern people coming . Branson will still be really high. after all that is a tourist town. We would probaly only stay one night but might do two nights dont know what the pocketbook will say at that time. But i am trying to save some money for it. Jan
Dear Jan,
Actually, believe it or not, Bransons choices were cheaper than Lake of the Ozarks. I go to Stockton Lake several times a year-and I know they have several camp grounds, but havent seen any cabins....just tents or RVs. Im really not sure how many northern people are coming-as I only had 2 or 3 from up north even comment, and 1 never said if they would come for sure or not.....so...that will be one of those things I guess we will just wait and see *****sponds and what they want. Would hate for all of us to travel that far and no one from up north even show up! I know what you mean about the pocketbook and I tried to keep that in mind as I didnt even consider the ones who had damage deposits of $150-$450, cause I know I dont have that and dont expect anyone else to come up with that amount either!! There are lots of things to do wherever we do decide to go-just know Branson area a lot better and what it has to offer. Lots of emails from people who talked about the new branson landing and riding the ducks etc....I really want to make everyone happy, and thats my ultimate goal here-so maybe we will get some more opinions and suggestions-we'll see! Hope so anyway. Will keep you all posted. Love, Janet
it will be great with me where ever , lol Branson wouldl be the cheapest for me that is for sure. we wouldnt even have to rent anything if we didnt want to. Just didnt expect them to be so cheap since it is a tourist site. What ever eveyone decides will be great with me. and anytime is fine with us since we neither one work. Like when were you really going to try and have it before school starts again or later. You are working so hard on this Im just glad that it isnt me. lol. I would never get it done pobably. As far as doing things i just want to meet and greet . Jan
I hadn't posted that Myself and DBF would like to come becuase I didn't know when my surgery is going to be but thought maybe me and bf might come for the day or if far enough away from my date maybe a night or two we had talked about it and thought if it worked out we would just get a room. But anyways what I was going to ask was did anyone check out the lodeges at different lakes? Sometimes there are lodges that hold quite a few people.
Janet
First off thanks for all the work that you have put into this. I am sure it hasnt been easy nor will it be easy to try and please everyone. I know were all pretty flexible but (wont go no further) lol
I like some of the things about Lake of the Ozarks. But the prices will NOT at all fit my pocketbook. I was totally surprised that Branson has such reasonable rate. I would of thought since it is a big tourest town that prices would be threw the roof. But they're not at all. I am with Lana I like cooper creek resort. And I have heard so much about Branson Landing & The Bass Pro shop there. Sounds like there would be something for everyone to do no matter what their taste in entertainment is. Plus DH & I have never rode the water ducks. I was always too afraid I would be like the Unsinkable Molly Brown but in my case I would sink the boat. lol
Just pick a place and let us know what we need to do to reserve our spot. Timewise doesnt matter to us too much. If something is going on at that time. I will just reschedule eveything else to get there!!!
Love ya
Mel
Hi Janet - Just popped in to see how everyone is - I'm the one who gave you the phone numbers for the Bucksaw Resort & Marina? Sorry I sure thought they would be able to help you more. They were so great with our wedding guests we had rooms at the Marina Resort and 8 or 9 cabins to boot... plus hook-ups for campers and tents.... (BIG family from all over!) Most of the campers only stayed overnight in the park - and that was early in July - that's why I was just sure they would quote you a good price for everyone.... oh well - sorry I couldn't help but that is the best priced place I've been too. Good luck though - let me know if there is anything I can do from here okay? -like I said we probably won't be able to attend but I'd like to help anyway I can for you guys...

Janet,
This is probably already booked but after I read Jan's post I found it. There isn't much to do except fish and boat, not any real shopping tourist stuff but the prices sure look good. It's another option.
