I am really new...still working on paperwork!
Hi Angel
Welcome to the board. Everyone is right this is like one big family however, we all have plenty of shoulders to lean on here. I have Dr. Scott and am getting closer to getting the surgery done. I went to the seminar on Nov 18th. I went for my psyche appt today. I went to see Dr. Scott on the 7th of this month. Now I have 2 appts left. With the psychlogist and with the GI Dr. You can get most of your testing through your primary Dr. just tell them what you need and they can refer you. Dr. Scott is a great Dr. you are in good hands just be patient it took us a while to get where we are today it'll take a while to get it fixed. If you're feeling a little inpatient come here and post everyone will help you get through it they did me. Again welcome
Michelle
Hi Michelle,
How did your appt go with Dr.Navato today?By the way we want to see you as well at the support group meeting on the 26th
there is soo much to learn and Colette is an awsome leader, she knows her stuff, anyways like I was telling Angel if you need directions or ride, please give me a call or e-mail I'll be gladly to help out.
You guys are making me feel so welcome already. Thanks for all the info. I love it when I see someone new responding. Great to know I am not alone out here. I am interested in getting involved in the support group. Please let me know what time Monday night. Is it too early for me to start going right now if I haven't even been accepted?
I am planning on having the surgery in Columbia. I guess I might now have made that clear. I don't know if the Columbia location has a new name or what. I work with several people who have had the surgery. My insurance seems to be really awesome about covering it. I just want to make sure that I get the full benefits I can. One person I know here at work went to the psychiatrist the office set him up with and he had to pay it out of his pocket. I have United Health Care so I will be trying to find good people that take my insurance. I am open to suggestions.
Angel
P.S. Thanks again for all the support already. I know I will be depending on you all to help me get through. I am really emotional about the whole thing.
to answer your question about is it too early for you to go to a support group meeting NO it is for anyone and everyone that is wanting to find out about the surgery and all the ins and outs and all the things that you can and cant do. Anyway go to the one with Tony and Colette, they are both awesome people and they will help you in anyway they can i know. Jan
Hi there, I too am going thru MO Bariatrics and am finding it can be a slow process....I went to the Feb 10th seminar, put my paperwork in the mail on the 15th, I already had my pysch eval and bloodwork and pcp letter faxed to them, they have my paperwork marked as received in the system on the 26th and as of 3/15 they say my stuff has gone on to the schedule person and that she should call me anytime with my first appt...HOORAY....but I started this process in december of 06 really because that is when I signed up for the seminar they make you attend, I def. reccomend going to the website and getting the forms and doing as much on your own as you can, thats what I did, and although it feels like forever to me I know I'm making it go faster than it could be going...good luck!
kim
and I call them every week too, just to check in on where I'm at....make sure they don't forget me.....
Hi Kim!
I am fairly new to this board too. I went to the Feb. 10th seminar also. I had the paper work from the web site ready to go and at my family physician's office so I could turn it in as soon as I attended the seminar. I thought that would get me going quicker. I was wrong! My family physician faxed the paper work in, but the office said they only recieved the doctor's portion and the other papers were not there. Therefore I had to resubmit the paperwork. Then I called to see if there was a hold up, and they said they still did not recieve the paperwork. I faxed it a third time and when I called to see if they got the paperwork, they said they had two copies. I felt like I was going crazy! They have recieved all my labs finally, and they said that I needed to have a stress test and a PFT. I had that done and I am going to hand deliver the papers to them. I kept calling up there to see if I was scheduled yet and they finally scheduled me while I was on the phone. I think it must be hecticate in that at office. Everyone seems nice though. Anyway my first office visit is April 3. I know that this kind of stuff happens in an office because I have worked in one myself, so I do not blame them for the delay. Anyway, I thought I would let you know you are not alone on this. It is happening to me too. Good luck! It will all work out.
