Post-Op 1 week and MAJORLY depressed! HELP!
Just know you are not alone, you have a vast network of people out here who are thinking of you and praying for you...chemical changes are normal after surgery, but knowing that dosen't make how you are feeling any easier...seek out someone! Remember you are loved and on your way to a healthier life!
Hey Kate hun,
I hear you about the depress thing,I too was asking myself after I had my surgery, what did I get myself into.I was soo down in out about not being able to eat like I wanted to.but when I went for my first visit I got to go to the next stage, you just got to get over that first hump.I think you might be depressed cause right now its all liquids, well, thats what my problem was.
Do what the others said to do and keep yourself busy and for liquids you can get a can of soup and strain it and it will be better then just broth yuck
Im what, about six weeks post-op and I've lost a 100lbs and thats not even doin my excersises due to my back problems,You will adjust with what you can eat and what you cant.
We are here for you hun and if you need some advice just post and we will come a running lol.
One thing for sure loosing this 100lbs has made me feel so much better about myself and seem to have more energy now,I know I wouldn't change it for anything, cause now Im doin the

You take care of yourself hun and remember we're here for you!!

Kate,I hope your feeling better today.I know too how it is to be alone.I have been alone 81/2 yrs.I to ask myself the same question coming out of the OR.You really aren't the only one going throught this.We all do.You need to check with your doctor.Depression is not to mess with. There is no problem being depressed as long as you seek help.Don't be ashamed to ask.Everyone deals with it sometime in life. But you have people here who care about you. They will always help you.I care about you.If I can help you please let me know.

Hey Kiddo,
I am also 1 week post-op. I was really feeling down on Monday because of not having any energy. I had diareah really bad and called the Nurse Practitioner Della. She was very helpful and cleared up a lot of things for me. I feel much better now. Like you, I didn't want to talk to anyone because I did not tell people I was having Lap-band surgery and gall bladder surgery at the same time (major bomber). I had a double whammy and wondered why I was so tired. The depression will pass unless yo already suffer from major depressive disorder. Otherwise, you will you have to talk to your doctor about depression and medication.
It is very helpful to have someone around to help support you. If I were you, I would talk to my dear friends. You will be surprised at the support you get. Remember, you have just gone through a MAJOR life changing event and you need to share that with someone even if you don't want to--I did!
I am feeling much better than I did 2 day ago but what is happening is that I am learning my body all over again with this new tool in place. Be blessed.
