HAIR LOSS AFTER SURGERY????
Hi all,
I have heard from two different people that they have had hair loss about 3 months after surgery. One lady said that hers was so bad that she shaved her head for 9 months until it started coming back in.
Has anyone got facts on this???
I am trying to schedule surgery and although this won't stop me, it certainly makes me really nervous.
Thanks,
Sharlene
Hi Sharlene,
Yes it does happen usually in the 3rd or 4th month. Some people experience pretty severe hair loss..and not much helps the loss. It's a small price to pay for the weightloss. I lost quit a bit of hair it freaked me out at first. It was falling out by the handfull in the shower. I ended up just cutting my hair short and it's coming in nice and thick now. It slowed way down in about the 8th month and it's back to normal now and I'm 14months out.
Hugs,
Anna
Sharlene:
Someone on the board recommended Biotin. You can find it at Walmart in the vitamin aisle. It comes in pill or gel capsule. Will have to get the pill so you can cru**** I called Dr. Hornbostel's office and spoke with one of his nurses, Dena, who has also had lap rny. She said yes Biotin is great for hair, nails and skin. She takes it as well. The chewable multivitamins that you can get at Dr. H's office has Biotin in it.
I just had my surgery March 5th. I have my follow up with Dr. H today. I'm going to discuss the hair issue with him. My hair is exteremly fine and don't have much but would like to keep what I have.
Hope all is well,
Debbie D.
