missouri lab banders
Hi, Toni - welcome to the boards. I'm a recent lap-bander - got my band 2/19. I haven't had a fill yet so being 3 weeks post op I'm at a point I can still eat anything. Can't wait for that to change!
As far as the protein drinks, yes, you'll have to drink them. I was on a liquid diet 2 weeks before surgery and 1 week after and then a week of mushies so the protein drinks are very important, especially during this period.
Any other questions, ask away. Deb M is a little further out than I am w/her band - she just got her first fill and explained to me how to do it. If you'll search through the posts, probably on the next page, you'll find her explanation.

Thanks for the info. I also have another question. After you had your appt with Dr H., & you got approved. Did you have to go back to sedalia for ex: blood test, I have got alot of test done & i'm seeing a dietian now, had psych test, nerve test, heart test, colon test, dopper test, diabetic test, & cbc blood test done. (that's alot of testing)lol
Toni, I actually had my surgery in Springfield w/Dr. Edwards. Dr. Edwards didn't order any blood tests but my PCP did run 2 or 3 - one was thyroid, cholesterol and I can't remember what the other one was. The only other blood tests I had done was at pre-admission. It might depend on what co-morbidities you have - I didn't have any besides the beginning of bad knees. I think they did an EKG at my appointment w/the exercise physiologist.
