Just posted this on my profile
thought I would share it here too.
While my last post was positive and sunny this little tidbit is not so pleasant. However, it needs to be recorded. I suppose I had just become a little too confident that my new pouch would never turn on me. Well last night proved to me again that - whoaaa you have new insides here, you gotta follow the rules.
For breakfast I had a ½ of a Blue Bunny Lite yogurt - Perfect choice.
For lunch ¼ cottage cheese with a bit of pineapple, 2 T of baked beans, and one bite of chocolate cream pie. - Not bad, should have let off the bite of pie.
For snack one snack size bag of 98% fat free popcorn with a Protein Perfect vial over ice. - Not too bad, probably over did it on the popcorn.
Ok, now here is where it gets bad. For dinner I made nachos for the family. I wasn't planning on eating that because of the ground beef. However, I ate a few tortilla chips and tasted the cheese dip and thought I could handle it. So, I fixed a small plate about 10 chips with 2 T. of cheese dip. That went down fine, but I think it was the beginning of the problem. About one hour after that I ate ½ cup of Blue Bunny No Sugar Added Ice Cream.
It took about 3 minutes. I began to get sick. Unbelievable nausea swept over me and I went to the bathroom. My problem (and it has always been this way even before surgery) is that food seems to zip right through my stomach and there is nothing to spit up. But I was blessed with intense diarrhea, cramping and the foamies. This event was about 5 times worse than my first episode of dumping. I think it was the dumping syndrome mixed with some reaction to the ground beef and the richness of the cheese dip???
Anyway, it was awful. I cried and moaned and hollered for my husband, sweet thing that he is stayed right there with me the whole time. Fixed me a bath to relax in and did everything he could to help. The bath helped somewhat, although I continued to throw up during that time. It reminded me of child birth, at that point when you feel like you are not going to make it through the pain. During this entire time my lower stomach (intestines?) were hurting and cramping intensely. It lasted for at least 45 agonizing minutes. When I could finally relax from writhing around and moaning, I fell asleep in the recliner. I woke up about 30 minutes later and the pain was gone.
This morning my insides still feel tender. I will be very gentle on them today. I guess this was a needed wakeup call. I need to stick to the program, eating the things that I know agree with me.
I just wanted to record this to remind myself later for the pain and to help others. We all make bad choices sometimes; we just have to learn from the hard lesson. I hope that this experience keeps me from straying too much out of the guidelines again!
Marilyn so sorry for the episode you had. As my doctor says it is all a learning experience. But there are rules to follow and when we dont it is a mess.
I dont try anything that i know has sugar in it at all. dont want to know if i can eat it or not. You will be able to eat the nachos later on. I just had some night beforelast but i am almost 7 months out. but even now i cant eat very many. Jan
Marilyn I am sorry for your episode, but something good comes out of these things it teaches us how careful we have to be, I have not dumped yet but I am sure I will sometime..Dr. H said I could have hamburger and I ate it a time or two but all at once hamburger makes me sick to think about it so I know I have to leave it alone, I may try chili but with more beans than meat, I guess there is something about beef.
Where do you get your vials of protein?
we are all here for each other when we have problems, GOD IS GOOD...I have met your husband and I could tell he is a great person, he seems so concerned with what you were going thru...ok now dont kick youself so much we are all human we will get there....love ya lots...vesta
Thanks for the encouragment ladies. I know that I learned a lot by people sharing all their experiences the good, bad and the ugly. I also like to record it on my profile so I can go back and remind myself
The protien vials are the ones from profect, the 3 oz liquid with 25 grams of protein. http://www.protica.com/index.htm?D=072605ak
Getting ready to ride the bike to Sedalia to see Wild Hogs! Hope it keeps warming up today!

Hi Marilyn;
Just a thought. The cheese dip probably had too much sugar and the ice cream, even though it states no sugar added....probably had sugar and sugar alcohols. I think you got a double dose of sugar! Been there done tha****ch my sugar and sugar alcohols.
Hope this helps.
Hugs;
Barbara
