Deb M
Hello Deb...I just got home and was checking the board ...lol, you were waiting for me, weren't ya? That's okay....yes I got the fill, it went fine! I got 2 CC's. He was running a little behind (surgery) but when he came in they had me get up on the xray table, laying down with a pillow in the small of my back (too push my tummy up more, like we need that...lol ). You can watch it on the TV screen next to you if you want...so the answer to your flouroscope question is yes!
Doc cleans the spot where you will get the fill and then (you may not wanna watch this part) they stick a pretty long needle into your port and fill. He was moving the needle (it's one of those bendable needles) around in there a little bit, it felt a little strange going in and when he was moving it but nothing I couldn't handle. Then he pulls it out and they position the table in a half standing position and have you drink that barium stuff and take pictures when you swallow it. He then showed me my insides (xray on tv)...lol explaining where everything was...the band, the port and the tubing. It's all kinda neat to watch but I have always been into medical stuff.
I am on a liquid diet until tomorrow...liquid NOT clear liquid! Protein drinks for me mainly! The liquids you have between meals have to be low or no sugar...water, crystal light and so on.
As for the way I feel, I'm a little nauseated but I think it was more the barium then the fill itself. You will do fine!! Deb M.
